Please Note: The European Rail plugin is available for provisioned customers on both Smartpoint Desktop and Smartpoint Cloud. These help topics are available in the Smartpoint Cloud Help, but support both Smartpoint Cloud and Smartpoint Desktop.

European Rail

Launch

You can launch the European Rail plugin from both Smartpoint Desktop and Smartpoint Cloud. The European Rail tool is the same for both Smartpoint Desktop and Smartpoint Cloud, and PNRs/Booking Files that contain European Rail train segments can be accessed from both products.

Menu items link to:

  • Search for and book for European Rail.

  • Import European Rail bookings from Trainline if a European Rail reservation was created directly through the carrier or failed to save to Smartpoint.

Tip! After a booking is completed, you can also launch the European Rail tool to view and manage bookings to change, void, or cancel bookings, if permitted by the carrier and fare rules.

 

Search and import

To launch the European Rail plugin from Smartpoint Cloud:

  1. From the sidebar, select the magnifying glass icon to open the Search panel.

  2. From the list, select European rail search.

  3. From the display the European Rail Search screen, select either:

    • Launch to search for and book for European Rail.

    • Add Booking to import European Rail bookings from Trainline.

 

Search

You can launch the European Rail plugin in Smartpoint Desktop from either the Flex Windows or Classic view.

Tip! If you have not signed in to European Rail or Smartpoint Cloud within the last 24 hours, you may need to enter your MyTravelport ID, password, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) code. Multi-factor authentication was added on January 28, 2025.

Flex Windows

  1. Select the Search icon.

  2. Select European rail search.

  3. For MFA, a code is sent to your associated email address to authenticate your login. The email subject line is Your authentication code.

  4. Copy and paste the code to enter it on the login page.

Classic Windows

  1. Select the SEARCH menu.

  2. Select European rail search.

    For MFA, a code is sent to your associated email address to authenticate your login. The email subject line is Your authentication code.

  3. Copy and paste the code to enter it on the login page.

Import

This menu item is displayed only if a valid Rail license key is activated for the PCC.

If a European Rail reservation was created directly through the carrier or failed to save to Smartpoint, you can manually import the booking.

Flex Windows

  1. Select the Rail icon, then select European rail booking import.

    For MFA, a code is sent to your associated email address to authenticate your login. The email subject line is Your authentication code.

  2. Copy and paste the code to enter it on the login page.

Classic Windows

  1. Select the PNR menu, then select European rail booking import.

    For MFA, a code is sent to your associated email address to authenticate your login. The email subject line is Your authentication code.

  2. Copy and paste the code to enter it on the login page.

 

Tip! If you are not provisioned for European Rail, an error is displayed when you attempt to launch the tool.
