Travelport Content Optimizer - Air

Content Optimizer gives Travelport customers a toolkit for monetizing demand across all points of sale. It is a self-service rules engine that allows you to dynamically control the content presented to your agents or travelers. This tool can help you optimize your revenues by driving volumes towards your preferred content providers and by enhancing the relevancy of your offers to specific customer personas.

How it works

  • By creating rules, the content in Travelport’s Flight Search Algorithm can be targeted and filtered to dynamically control the content that is presented to agents or travelers in any Travelport point-of-sale or API.

  • Majority of the rules affect Flight Targeting stage, e.g., Exclude Airlines.

  • A few rules affect the Pricing and Diversity stages of funnel, e.g., Exclude fare or fare family and Max number of results.

  • By creating rules, content can be tuned for relevancy.

This tool gives Travelport customers greater control over the content returned in their points of sale and APIs.

Content Optimizer - Air

With Content Optimizer, customers can influence Travelport’s pricing platform (Search/Shopping), and in parallel influence fares returned in a Fare/Tariff Display, and/or at time of Pricing. Content Optimizer functionality empowers high-volume transacting customers to acquire granular control over any type of search result, subsequently increasing conversion, improving bookability, and driving sales towards preferred content providers, ultimately helping customers to increase revenue and improve profitability. For example:

  • Exclude flight / flight ranges: Excludes a specific airline flight or flight range from shop, availability, and sell.

  • Exclude marketing / codeshare airlines: Excludes either the specified marketing only, or codeshare combinations:

  • Exclude airlines: Restricts specified airlines from shop, fare, quote, fare display, availability, and sell.

Rules can be applied across the following Travelport cores: Apollo, Galileo, and Worldspan, and usually come into effect within 15 minutes. Currently the Content Optimizer rules only apply to GDS-hosted and NDC airlines. Rules do not apply to Air Content Hub (ACH) connected airlines, such as Tiger Air and Air Asia.

Air Rules can be optimized with Groups, based on either SID/PCC, Location, or Channel IDs.

  • SID/PCC: When a list of SIDS (Subscriber IDs) or PCCs (Pseudo City Codes) are used to create a rule, users can create groups of them to speed up the rule making process by enabling distribution of rules across multiple SIDs/PCCs.

  • Location: Location Groups are customized lists that can be made up of a variety of location types and used as the From and/or To Geography of one or more Content Optimizer rules. A Location Group can be made up of airports, cities, nations, zones, and/or areas. This accelerates the rule making process by enabling distribution of rules across multiple locations.

  • Channel IDs: Channel IDs can be used as a more granular method of associating specific Travelport entries with a specific set of Content Optimizer rules. To associate entries with a set of rules, include the same four-character Channel ID in a Fare Search/Shopping, Fare Quote/Pricing, or Fare Display entry that is also associated with one or more Content Optimizer rules.

Air rules can be applied across the following Travelport cores: Apollo (1V), Galileo (1G), and Worldspan (1P). The rules usually come into effect within 15 minutes.

Please refer to Air Rule Types for the different categories that can be used to make Content Optimizer rules.
