Ancillary services

Shopping for Ancillary Services

Also known as Optional Services.

There are several ways to shop for ancillary services in Smartpoint. If you are:

For formats, see Ancillary Services (DAS) in the Travelport+ Format Guide. Travelport+ (1G) and Apollo (1V) use the same formats for ancillary services.

Shopping for Ancillary Services from the PNR/Booking FileViewer

To shop for ancillary services from the PNR/Booking File Viewer:
  1. If applicable, ensure that any frequent flyer numbers are added for the passengers. Because loyalty memberships may affect ancillary prices, frequent flyer numbers should be added before selling ancillaries to ensure that the passenger is offered all of the applicable services and appropriate charge amounts.

  2. For Network (GDS) Carriers, book the itinerary.

    • Typically, ancillary services are available for Network Carriers only after the itinerary is booked and a PNR/Booking File is created.

    • Typically, ancillary services are available before booking for Direct Payment Carriers. However, specific services may be available only after booking.

  3. From the PNR/Booking File Viewer Window, click the Shopping Cart icon or enter DAS*.

If applicable, the Ancillary Services Currency screen displays the default currency for the ancillary services.

  4. Confirm the default currency for the ancillary services, or enter an override currency code in the Currency text box.

  5. Click the Continue to display the Ancillary Services screen.

Note: Clicking the Shopping Cart icon or entering DAS* displays the general ancillary services screen. See shopping for ancillary services with modifiers to search for specific ancillary modifiers.

  6. Optional. Click the Filter arrow in the upper right corner to limit the displayed ancillary services to a selected group code (type). Available group codes vary depending on the services available for the itinerary and the categories designated by the airline.

  7. Optional. Select Include View-Only Services to also display services that cannot be purchased through Smartpoint ancillary services.

View-Only services can be purchased at the airport or through another channel. Ancillary services that are view-only may depend on the filing type used for the service.

  8. For the desired ancillary services, enter the quantity of the service in the appropriate columns.

  9. If you select ancillary services that require additional text remarks, click the SSR Free Text icon in the lower left corner to enter additional remarks.

  10. If displayed, click Embargo Alerts in the lower left corner to view more information about specific baggage or other items that are not permitted on the selected flight.

  11. After ancillary services and applicable free-form text are entered for all passengers and flights, click Review to view the Ancillary Services Summary.

  12. After you review the Ancillary Services Summary, click APPLY to book the selected ancillary services.

  13. Complete the required form of payment tasks.

    • For credit/debit cards, complete the payment information or confirm the card information from the traveler's profile.

    • If an EMD (Electronic Miscellaneous Document) is required as the form of payment, you can issue EMDs using either the EMD Manager or terminal commands.

  14. Optional. In the PNR/Booking File:

    • Click *DAS to display the ancillary services in Additional Services in the booking record.

Note that ancillary services may not be immediately confirmed. Unconfirmed services have a status of NO.

    • To display the SSRs associated to the ancillary services, click or enter *SI in Travelport+ (1G) or *PS in Apollo (1V).

Next Steps

After shopping for ancillary services.

  • You can view the selected paid seats and other ancillary services.

  • Depending on the carrier and fare, you may also be able to modify or cancel paid seats and other ancillary services in Smartpoint. For some carriers, you may need to contact the carrier directly to modify or cancel ancillary services.

For more information about ancillary services for a specific airline, search for the airline by name or airline code in General Information or EMD Fact Sheets in the Travelport Knowledge Base in MyTravelport.

  • If an EMD (Electronic Miscellaneous Document) is required as the form of payment, you can issue the appropriate type of EMD using either the EMD Manager or terminal commands.

    • ASVC (Additional Service) SSRs communicate flight-associated services, such as eats, meals, pillows, and baggage. An EMD-A (EMD Associated) is issued based on the ASVC SSR, and is linked to the specific Electronic Ticket (ET) flight coupon in the airline's ET database.

    • The Service (SVC) Segments communicate services not associated to a specific flight that are sold from the ISM database. These services include reservations change fees, group deposits, and lounge access. An EMD-S (EMD Stand-Alone) is issued for services based on the SVC.
