Shopping and Booking Flights

There are several ways to shop for and book flights in Travelport Smartpoint.

Please note that the descriptions of these Flight Shopping and Booking flows are brief and do not include every possible task associated with the workflow. See individual workflows for more information.

Workflow Description

Air Availability and Pricing

Typically used for schedule-driven travelers.

Returns available flights for a requested itinerary. After an available flight and booking class (class of service) is selected, the itinerary is priced (fare quoted).

A number of modifiers can be added to the Air Availability and Air Pricing requests to return specified responses. These modifiers include: time ranges, included or excluded carriers, private fare modifiers, and passenger types.

Fare Shopping

Typically used for fare-driven travelers.

Searches for low fares and available flights in a single request. Several types of Fare Shopping options can be used to request

Using Smartpanel for Advanced Availability, Pricing, and Fare Shopping

Smartpanel uses fill-in screens to provide advanced options to:

Direct Flight Sell

Used for a known itinerary.

Sells a flight when the carrier, flight number, and booking code. A preceding availability or shopping request is not necessary.

Fare Display/Tariff Display

Typically used for fare-driven travelers.

Returns all published fares between two cities. You can follow up with Fare Rules request to determine the requirements and/or penalties associated with a listed fare. After you have selected flights, you can request Air Availability for those flights.
