Canceling Travel Segments
One or more PNRs can be combined within the Universal Record to create a record for an entire trip. In turn, PNRs include or more air, hotel, or vehicle travel segments.
There are two methods for canceling one or more travel segments within a PNR without canceling the entire PNR or UR:
- Canceling the PNR by modifying the Universal Record using UniversalRecordModifyReq.
- Canceling the PNR directly. See the following topics for information about canceling specific types of travel segments through the PNR:
- Canceling Air Bookings
- Canceling Hotel Bookings
- Canceling Vehicle Bookings
The basic cancellation process is the same for all segment types; however, there are some differences in the required request data.
Exceptions
ACH
For a more complete list of functionality available from various ACH carriers, see ACH Carriers Functionality. Because functionality for carriers may be subject to change, always confirm functionality directly with the ACH carrier before implementation.
Air segments booked through ACH cannot be canceled because these segments are ticketed and paid when they are booked. An error is returned for all ACH air segments.
Depending on the supplier, ACH bookings may be refunded or exchanged.
RCS
Rail segments from the Rail Content Service (RCS) cannot be because these segments are ticketed when they are booked. An error is returned for all rail segments.
Depending on the supplier, RCS bookings may be refunded or exchanged.
