Available Optional Services

After a user is provisioned in Universal API for optional services and the carrier has filed the services so that they are accessible to a user, the stand-alone Merchandising transactions can be used to access optional services. See the Air Merchandising XML Samples for more information.

The Merchant of Record is the company that charges the credit card, either directly or via Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD), and whose name appears on your credit card statement.

The following table provides a brief listing of all the carriers and services available via Universal API.

  - The following terms and acronyms are used in the spreadsheet:
    - RFIC: Reason for Issuance Code): A broad, single-letter code that defines the general category of the service (e.g., C for Baggage, F for Merchandise, G for In-flight Services
    - RFISC (Reason for Issuance Sub-Code): A specific 3-character sub-code that qualifies the broader RFIC at the passenger and coupon level.
    - Method: Processing & Service Types - how the specific service and its corresponding payment are attached to a customer’s booking
      - SVC (Service Segments): Used in the booking system to communicate or communicate non-flight-related services (e.g., reservation change fees or lounge access). It triggers the issuance of an EMD-Stand Alone (EMD-S), meaning the fee is not tied to a specific flight coupon.
      - DAS (Dynamic Ancillary Services): Refers to a merchandising method where an airline's pricing engine tailors and prices optional services in real-time based on customer profiles, historical data, or current demand.
    - Group: The code for classification. E.g., BG = Baggage, SA = Seat Asignment.
    - ICW: In Connection With. Data field to link an ancillary purchase—such as excess baggage, a meal, or priority boarding—directly to the passenger's base flight ticket.
