Emulation
In the Travelport Admin Portal, Agency Administrators can emulate into another work area branch in order to configure settings for that work area branch.
In Universal Desktop, agents with Bridge Branching permissions are able to emulate into another work area branch in order to shop, book, and ticket travel content.
Emulation in Travelport Admin Portal
When an Agency Administrator logs into the Travelport Admin Portal, the bottom of the Travelport Admin Portal screen displays the Login ID and Context. Agency Administrators can change the context in which they are working by clicking the Change Context link in the bottom right of the task bar area. The work area branches into which they are permitted to emulate display.
Emulation in Universal Desktop
In order for an agent to emulate another Work Area Branch they must have Bridge Branching in place.
Bridge Branch is where an agent is assigned access to a Work Area Branch other than their default. An agent can only be bridged to a branch inside the same agency and the bridge branch management is handled by the Agency Administrator. To assign an agent emulation permissions, modify the agent profile and add the necessary emulation roles.
If an agent has been bridged to 5 Work Area Branches, then they can only emulate into those pseudo city codes in Universal Desktop. Bridge Branch security does not affect their host sign on in the Terminal Emulation window.
In order to emulate, users must select a Work Area they wish to work under using the change context menu in order to shop, book, and ticket travel content. Agent users will have a default Work Area that Universal Desktop will emulate them into at the time of login.
Notes:
-
Emulation in the terminal is independent of emulation in the GUI.
-
Emulation rights is a permission. Like other permissions, Emulation rights are assigned through a Role to their profile.
-
Emulation rights are not turned on by default.
-
Emulation rights can be granted at one of five levels, giving access to a different subset of Branches on the system.
-
There is currently no security level for Branch Groups. In Galileo the equivalent type of security would be group coding where the agent will have access to all agencies with the same group code. In Universal Desktop there is not a security level that matches Group coding and agents will need to be individually bridged to those particular pseudo city codes.
Emulation Levels
Emulation in the terminal is independent of emulation in the Universal Desktop GUI.
System and Managing Entity levels are only given to Travelport staff.
