By default, a Hotel Rule Search processes a request for one adult traveler. When necessary, child travelers can be added to a rule request. The number of adults plus the number of children must not exceed a total of 9 (4 adults, 5 children).
Note: If a child or children are added to a request, additional bed types, such as adult and/or child rollaway beds and/or cribs, may also be required.
Request
A standard Hotel Rate and Rule Search request is made to more than one room. In addition to the minimum required search data, the NumberOfChildren attribute of HotelRulesReq/HotelRulesLookup/HotelRulesModifiers is used to the set the number of children and their ages in the rule search.
The number of children must be entered first in the Count attribute, followed by the child age. The number of children in a request can be 1 to 5. The child count must include one age for each child listed in the number of children.
Response
The Hotel Rule Search response returns rules for properties with availabilities for the requested number of adults and children.
Exceptions
Worldspan
Worldspan does not always support NumberOfChildren, based on the supplier. If it is submitted, but not supported, an error is sent in the response.
Worldspan does not support Age for children.
