A Vehicle Details request is commonly used during the shopping process to determine traveler preferences. A prerequisite task is typically a Vehicle Search request. Vehicle Details uses keyword information to detail a vehicle supplier's business policies and services. The VehicleKeywordReq in the VehicleKeywordsService is used to request Vehicle Details, and the request message must contain the:
- Vendor code
- Pick-up date
Vehicle Location requests a list of locations for a city or airport code. Optionally, locations can be requested for a specific suppliers and/or location type (city center, resort, suburban, etc.). The Location List is requested using VehicleLocationReq.
A Vehicle Media request allows the user to enter a search ID from a Vehicle Search response that includes images. Vehicle media and descriptions are stand-alone transactions which do not need to be made as part of any specific travel business process. However, images and descriptions are typically requested as part of shopping functions, such as a Vehicle Search or a Vehicle Details request.
Vehicle Rules obtain additional information regarding conditions and charges associated with vehicle rentals. Rate rules can be requested:
- After a Vehicle Search when rules are requested for selected search response.
- After a Vehicle Booking using the booking confirmation number.
These rules can vary by supplier. A rules request should be made before booking to confirm the terms of the rental. If the traveler fails to adhere to these rules and restrictions, the supplier can assess penalties or revert the rates from discounted to standard. However, a rules request can also be from a sold segment.
