Template Overview
Templates are made up of fields and field groups, which define what users see and what information can be pre-populated into bookings and activity panels for all levels of profiles in the Universal Desktop. Many fields and field groups are defined by Travelport, though some settings can be modified by the agency.
Templates are kept on the Agency level of the hierarchy; therefore, any changes made to templates affect all the work area branches in the Agency hierarchy. Default templates are provided and are available to all customers.
To modify templates, open the hierarchy, then click the Details tab to access the associated templates. For more information, see Modify Templates.
Each hierarchy level contains a corresponding template. Templates, in turn, define the kind of data permitted within a profile at that level. Templates serve many purposes:
-
Define the structure in which to display relatively “flat” profile data.
-
Allow agencies to add custom fields and field groups.
-
Allow agencies to define fields (custom and fixed) that are “search options.” (Search options define which profile fields the Desktop shop/book feature will use to search for profiles.)
-
Allow agencies to define which actions/endpoints apply to each template field (custom and fixed).
-
Communicate the fixed and custom fields whose data will be inheritable to profiles that are children of profiles that use this template.
-
Allow agencies to “hide” or “show” fields on the GUI (custom and fixed).
-
Communicate the min and max cardinality for data associated to each field and field group (custom and fixed).
-
Allow agencies to define a label for each field and field group (custom and fixed).
-
Allow agencies to define the relative display order of each root-level field and group on the template (fixed and custom).
