Development Process

The Smartpoint SDK enables developers to expand the power of Smartpoint by creating plug-ins that fulfill agency-specific needs or enhance agent productivity. While developers create plug-ins and code in different ways, the high-level steps for creating, testing, and deploying a Smartpoint plug-in include:

  1. Be a member. Third-party developers can join the Travelport Developer Portal. By being a Travelport Developer Portal member, you gain access to the Smartpoint SDK, Universal Desktop SDK, and Univeral API products, as well as dedicated support.
  2. Develop in pre-production. Use the SDK Console, help documentation, and Smartpoint API definitions to create your plug-in.
  3. Test in Smartpoint. Test your plug-in using your local version of Smartpoint to ensure that it works as expected.
  4. Follow the approval process, if required. Plug-ins that are deployed outside the agency that created them must be approved by Travelport.
  5. Deploy the plug-in. A plug-in may be deployed only within the agency that created it, or it may be deployed to a broader customer base through the Travelport Marketplace. Refer to deployment for more information.
