Assisted Ticketing
Revalidating Tickets
With Assisted Ticketing, you can revalidate eligible tickets to change an existing ticket.
When a passenger changes flight arrangements, it is sometimes possible to change the current ticket rather than re-issue the ticket. For example, you can change a flight on the same carrier to a different flight later in the day.
Only certain types of changes can be made for tickets that are eligible for revalidation through the Travelport+ (1G) system. In some cases, ineligible tickets may permit revalidation directly with the carrier.
To be eligible for revalidation through the Travelport+ (1G) system, ticket updates must:
-
Be issued by a carrier that participates in revalidation. For carrier-specific information, see the REVALIDATE column in E-ticketing functionality information for all participating Travelport Airlines in the Travelport Knowledge Base.
-
Use the same carrier, fare, fare basis code (FBC), class of service (cabin), routing, and airports. These requirements are established by IATA.
-
Be requested within the carrier's time window for revalidation. For example, some carriers allow revalidation only within 24 hours of ticketing.
-
Have a coupon status of OPEN or ARPT.
More InformationFor most airlines, if the coupon status is CKIN, you must request the airline to perform the revalidation. CKIN indicates that the departure is within 24 hours and the carrier anticipates a passenger check-in.
However, British Airways (BA), has an automated process to change the ticket status from CKIN to OPEN or ARPT, and then revalidate the ticket. For more information, see the Travelport Knowledge Base:
Tickets are NOT eligible for revalidation if they:
-
Require a fee for changing the reservation. Any ticket updates that include a change fee must be handled as a reissue.
-
Include any past date segments.
-
Attempt to revalidate a closed flight to an open segment.
If the itinerary is partially traveled, and there is no live sector remaining on the original plating carrier, you must request the airline to revalidate the e-ticket record or to process a reissue, if permitted in the fare rules.
For more details about revalidation eligibility, see Revalidate a ticket in the Travelport Knowledge Base.
If you forget to revalidate the e-ticket, the reservation in the Travelport+ (1G) system and the airline's hosting system will not match the e-ticket data that is held in the airline's e-ticket server.
The basic Travelport+ (1G) format is VTK.
Example:
VTKRETS1/TN1259901891920/C1
Where:
-
ET = e-ticket
-
S1 = segment 1 of the itinerary
-
TN1259901891920 = the ticket number, including the three-digit airline code
-
/ = separator
-
C1 = the coupon number

Revalidating Tickets
To revalidate tickets:
-
Retrieve a ticketed PNR/Booking File.
Tip! Assisted Ticketing only supports tickets issued for PCCs in Travelport+ (1G). However, you can revalidate an e-ticket that was issued in another GDS if your agency has migrated to Travelport+ (1G). -
More Information
When you revalidate, the Travelport+ (1G) system checks that the IATA number of the agency attempting to revalidate matches the IATA number on the ticket originally issued by the other GDS. If there is a match, a revalidation message is sent to the carrier: ELECTRONIC TICKET REVALIDATED.
-
Modify the flight segments with eligible changes.
Note: When the reservation is changed, the original Filed Fare is canceled. However, a Filed Fare is not required to revalidate the ticket because the new fare amount is equal the original fare amount. -
Click the Ticket icon to launch the Smartpoint Assisted Ticketing window.
Tip! You can also enter the #REVAL Quick Command. -
Click the Ticket Revalidation tab to display a list of all tickets in the PNR/Booking File.
Tips!-
You can click REFRESH to update the list with the most recent information from the Travelport+ (1G) system.
-
If the airline does not support revalidation or no eligible tickets are found, a message is displayed: No Tickets Found.
-
-
Select the segment that you want to revalidate.
-
If applicable. Change The Not Valid Before (NVB) and Not Valid After (NVA) dates for the selected segment.
Tip! If the fare is either non-refundable or has a change fee, the NVB/NVA dates display the actual dates of travel instead of the minimum/maximum stay provisions of the fare rule. -
Click REVALIDATE to display the revalidated tickets in Travelport+ (1G) formats.
-
Click Yes to display the confirmation screen.
ELECTRONIC TICKET REVALIDATED indicates a successful revalidation.Tip! if the airline does not support revalidation an error message is displayed. -
Click OK to close the Confirmation screen and redisplay Assisted Ticketing.
-
Optional. Repeat Step 5 through Step 9 for any additional ticket changes in the PNR/Booking File. You must revalidate each segment and flight coupon separately.
-
Optional. In the Tickets column, click links for the revalidated tickets to display the Ticket Details for each ticket. You can confirm that the revalidated e-ticket record now matches the information in the Booking File.
-
If applicable. Enter or click *SI in the PNR/Booking File to view the Ticket Number Electronic (TKNE) SSR.
More InformationSome carriers, including British Airways (BA) or Finnair (AY), automatically generate a TKNE SSR when an e-ticket is revalidated. For example:
Ticket Number Electronic (TKNE) is an SSR code sent by the suppliers in the Travelport+ (1G) system to participating airlines. This SSR indicates that an electronic ticket has been generated on their plate. The TKNE SSR code cannot be modified or added from Travelport+ (1G) .
For more information, see SSR for E-Ticket Number (TKNE) in the Travelport Knowledge Base.
