Creating-Airline Specific Endorsements for Involuntary Changes

For involuntary changes through Assisted Ticketing, you can create or change your own airline-specific endorsements. If endorsements are not already filed directly within the application, you can use this option to create specialized endorsement requirements for a specific airline.

There are two types of endorsements for involuntary changes:

  • Involuntary changes
  • Schedule changes
Important! Travelport takes no responsibility for the tickets issued. Agents must always confirm that the mask with new or modified endorsements is accurate, and amend the mask if needed.
To create or change airline-specific endorsements:
  1. In Smartpoint, enter HELP INVOL XX, where XX is the airline, to display that airline's format for endorsements.

  2. Go to the Smartpoint files folder in your system. By default, the path for this file is C:\Program Files (x86)\Travelport\Smartpoint.

  3. Go to the Smartpoint folder in your system. By default, the path for this file is C:\Program Files (x86)\Travelport\Smartpoint. Please note that your agency:

    • May have chosen to install this folder in another location.

    • May limit your access to this folder depending on your agency's choices for administrative permissions.

  4. Optional. Copy the Airlines.xml file to another folder in case you want to replace your edits with the original file.

  5. Right-click the original Airlines.xml file in the Smartpoint folder.

  6. Select Open with, then select a program to open the file. If you don't have XML editing software, select Wordpad or Notepad.

  7. The XML format for the endorsements is displayed. This example shows the file opened in WordPad.

Tip! You can double-click Airlines.xml to open the file in your default browser. While you cannot edit the file from the browser, it can be easier to read.
  8. You can either change existing endorsement lines, or copy lines to create an endorsement for a new airline.

These are the general formats for endorsements. Text in bold can be changed. Data in italics comes from Travelport+ (1G). This data cannot be changed, but specific data fields can be deleted or moved to match an airline's specified endorsement format.

Please Note: Some airlines, such as AA (American Airlines), have few exceptions. The exceptions are built based on the information Travelport receives from the airline. Agents can manually change endorsement formats in this file, but they must always confirm that the mask with new or modified endorsements is accurate, and amend the mask if needed.
