Distribution Groups

A distribution group contains one or more organization and/or locations and the security levels (ability to sell, and/or ticket) associated with those organizations. Distribution groups must be created so that selling fares can be viewed through Apollo, Travelport+, Worldspan, and Travelport's Point of Sale, XML Select/GWS, and XML Pro/DIR products. Each distribution group must have a unique name.

A master distribution group contains other masters and/or distribution groups. A master distribution group is not GDS specific so a GDS code does not display prior to the name and it is denoted with a hash (#) mark following the name.

Distribution lists can be built according to:

  • Travel agency – distribute to specific Pseudo City Code (PCC) or IATA Number(s).

  • Geography – distribute fares to all GDS Agencies in a geography (City Code, Country code, state/province)

  • Travel agency and geography – distribute to specific PCC/IATA Number(s) within a specific geographic area.

Master distribution lists can be built using:

  • Other master distribution groups

  • Distribution groups

Note: The security levels are maintained at the Distribution-group level.
