Modifying Non-Paid Seating Optional Services
When an ATPCO-filed Optional Service that is not Paid Seating is initially purchased, the PNR is imported from the carrier's system and a Universal Record (UR) is created or updated. The UR contains an OptionalService element which details the purchase. Data in the OptionalService includes:
- Type of service.
- Amount paid, which may be a per-person price or a price for all passengers on the PNR, depending on carrier.
- Create Date when the service was purchased.
Modification of other Optional Services (not Paid Seating) is supported for all carriers. The Optional Service must be deleted first before confirming the new Optional Service via the Merchandising flow. This requires sending a request to modify the Universal Record (UniversalRecordModifyReq) and delete the applicable SSR before confirming the new Optional Service via the Air Merchandising Fulfillment request. If dual SSRs exist for an optional service, then the non-ASVC SSR is deleted. If only the ASVC SSR exists for an optional service, then it is deleted.
Important: In Galileo, individual SSRs cannot be deleted. When Universal Record Modify is sent to delete an individual SSR or ASVC SSR, all SSRs of that SSR code will be deleted.
Note: For users who are only using the Air Merchandising Web Services, the UniversalRecordModify transactions must be implemented to cancel an existing Optional Service before new ones can be added using the Offer and Fulfillment services.
For example, a user may:
- Cancel a flight with an optional service and book a new flight.
- Modify the lounge optional service on an existing flight.
The flight is cancelled and a new flight is booked via Universal Record Modify. The Air Merchandising Fulfillment request is sent with the Optional Services for the new flight. An Air Merchandising Fulfillment response is returned with confirmed optional services.
If the SSR of the original optional service is found in the Universal Record, it is deleted via Universal Record Modify.
If an SSR of the original optional service is not found in the Universal Record, the ASVC SSR of the original optional service is deleted via Universal Record Modify. An Air Merchandising Fulfillment request is sent with the Optional Services for the flight. An Air Merchandising Fulfillment response is returned with confirmed Optional Services.
The types of modifications available vary by supplier.
