Account |
An entity in the Profile System used to represent businesses (corporations / SMEs) that are clients of travel agencies. |
Agency |
An entity in a hierarchy of objects representing the organizational structure of a travel agency. Agencies are the top-level of the Agency hierarchy that is created by Travelport during initial setup. |
Agency Administrator User |
A user of the system granted administrative permissions to perform higher-level functions needed to configure business settings for an agency. |
Agency Data |
Data associated with an Agency hierarchy. Agency data include:

Agency Group |
An optional hierarchical entity of the Agency hierarchy that exists above agencies at the top of the hierarchy. Agency Groups are not Contract Levels in the Agency hierarchy nor are they created by Travelport during setup. Agency Groups represent consortia relationships between agencies. Agency Groups are associated with consortia-level workflow and rules that are made available to each agency they contain. |
Agency Profile Hierarchy |
A hierarchical arrangement of profile entities reflecting the way travel agencies organize themselves. |
Agent |
Travel consultants that use Universal Desktop to book travel content on behalf of travelers. Data specific to agent profiles include the name of the travel consultant, default Work Area Branch, addresses, phone numbers, and electronic addresses. |
Branch |
Also called Work Area Branch. The bottom level of the Agency hierarchy. Work Area Branches contain credentials used to transact with content providers. Work Area Branches are the Universal Profile equivalent to GDS Pseudo Cities. They contain GDS PCC data, geo city, currency codes, and the IATA number used at the point of sale. Work Area Branches are associated with data used to access GDS and direct-connect content sources. |
Branch Group |
Entities of the Agency hierarchy between agencies and branches are known as Branch Groups. The number of Branch Groups that can exist between an agency and branch are configurable by the Agency Administrator (maximum of 7). |
Bridge-Branch |
A relationship between Agents and Work Areas that defines the list of Work Areas into which Agents can emulate. |
Content Provider |
A system that provides content to the Universal API. Content providers discussed in this document include those aggregated by the Universal API.

Contract Level |
A level of the Agency hierarchy that defines the point where a contract between an agency and Travelport exists. Product features are provisioned to agencies at Contract Levels. As of Release 2.1, Contract Level is no longer supported. Data from Contract Level Branch Group was migrated to the corresponding parent Agency. This update is compatible with versions of UProfile 9.0 or earlier. |
Cross-Agency Bridge-Branching |
A Bridge-Branch relationship that exists between agents contained within one Agency hierarchy and Work Areas contained in another Agency hierarchy. |
Global Support User |
A Travelport service desk user with permission to emulate into any work area and administer agency data for any Agency hierarchy. |
HAP |
Host Access Profile. Used by Universal Desktop for access |
NDC |
National Distribution Center. A type of support organization. Note: NDC functionality or support is not available in Universal API. Bookings cannot be serviced, created, or canceled via Universal API for NDCs. |
Product Configuration Data |
Data provisioned to Agency Contract Levels that define the access credentials needed by agents to transact at the point of sale. Product configuration data includes:

Profile Entity |
An instance of an agency, Branch Group, Work Area Branch, agent, traveler, traveler group or account. An instance of an Agency, for example, is “TravelPro”. An instance of an Account could be “IBM”. |

Regional Support User |
A type of support user with permission to emulate Work Areas and administer agency data for agencies (or parts of agencies) managed by their support organization. |
Security Context |
A data object defining the services a particular user of the Universal Desktop and Universal API is authorized to use. |
SMO |
Sales and Marketing Organization. A type of support organization. |
Support Organization |
A Travelport (or Travelport-affiliated) organization that provides end-user service desk support to customers of client applications. |
Support User |
A generic term encompassing Global Support Users and Regional Support Users. |
Template |
An object associated with each Profile Entity in the Profile System, defining:

Traveler |
A profile entity representing a traveler. Data specific to traveler profiles includes their personal information such as name, birth date, sex, phone, address and electronic address information. |
Traveler Group |
A profile entity representing a group of travelers within an account. Data specific to traveler group profiles include the ID and name of the corporate customer organizational hierarchy structure (e.g., Departments) and the addresses, phone numbers and electronic addresses relating to these levels of a corporate customer’s hierarchy. |
Universal Desktop |
Travelport’s new software tool used by travel agents to book travel on behalf of travelers. |
Universal Profile |
Travelport’s new hierarchical profile system used to store data about travel agencies and their customers. |
Work Area Branch |
Branches that contain credentials used to access and transact with content providers. To shop, price, book and ticket, agents must emulate into a Work Area Branch or more simply Work Area. Work Areas contain only the data items listed below. Agents and support users inherit these items when they emulate into a Work Area.
Each agent and support user will have a default Work Area that Universal Desktop will emulate into at startup. |
