Vehicle Shopping Overview
Vehicle shopping uses a generic vehicle search request to search for rental cars that are available in a certain city between two specific dates. By default:
- Responses are sorted from low to high rate. Modifiers such as specific car types, features, or rental locations can be used to narrow the response.
- A Vehicle Search response returns available vendors by the default airport location of a specified city airport code.
However, the request can be modified to:
- Include a specific location type such as a railway station, resort, car dealership, or cardinal location from the city center. The location type can also be used to search by a city code rather than an airport code.
- Search by Unique Location ID. In a single request, one or more unique locations or suppliers can be requested:
- Multiple unique locations can be requested for a single vendor.
- Multiple unique locations can be requested for a multiple vendors.
The Vehicle Matrix transaction provides a basic Vehicle Search Availability request that returns a maximum amount of vehicle rates in the fastest time possible. This transaction supports web-based applications that display a table of vehicle rates where the axes represent vehicle suppliers by vehicle types. The Vehicle Matrix response provides all of the data necessary to complete this grid in one transaction. Additional (Get More) transactions are not required to obtain all response data.
