Modifying Bookings

One or more PNRs can be combined within the Universal Record to create a record for an entire trip. In turn, PNRs include or more air, hotel, or vehicle travel segments.

Modifying Air, Hotel, and Vehicle Bookings

Air, hotel, and vehicle segments are modified via the Universal Record using UniversalRecordModifyReq in the Universal Record service.

Booked ACH segments can be modified only through the PNR as an exchange or refund, if the supplier permits that functionality. However, some modifications to an existing booking can be made through the Universal Record.

Modifying Rail Bookings

Rail bookings are an exception. Booked rail segments can be modified only through the PNR as an exchange or refund, if the supplier permits that functionality.

Modifying Passive Segments

Passive segments are used by Universal API to record booking data within the Universal Record (UR) that is from an external source. Because this data is external, it cannot be modified through Universal API. Passive segments can only be created or deleted through Universal API; therefore, if a passive segment needs to be updated, the segment must first be deleted and then a new segment added with the updated information.
