Ticketless Carriers
Some airlines choose to settle with travel provides outside of the Airline Reporting Corporation (ARC) or the Bank Settlement Plan (BSP). These airlines work in an environment without paper or electronic tickets. Airlines who settle with travel providers outside of ARC or BSP require guaranteed payment to confirm the PNR. Airlines have various options for obtaining credit card payment outside of BSP/ARC. Instead of using the AirCreateReservationReq/FormOfPayment element to include data, in ticketless payments, the payment data is sent through either:
- An OSI.
- An OTHS SSR for a ticketless carrier. See Air Booking with Ticketless Carriers for details.
Note: In Galileo, SSR OTHS is converted to a Vendor Remark (GeneralRemark/@TypeInGds with the 'Vendor' enumeration).
- A GUAR SSR for a guaranteed payment. See Air Booking with Guaranteed Payment for details.
- An EPAY SSR for a guaranteed electronic payment. See Air Booking with Electronic Payment for details.
A manual fare quote can be sent to the provider/supplier via a General Remark.
Notes:
- Most Low Cost Carriers in ACH are ticketless carriers that require a guaranteed payment using the GUAR SSR. However, travel providers should confirm the preferred payment mechanism with each specific ticketless carrier.
- Universal API has a list of EPAY and GUAR carriers, but not Ticketless carriers. A user must know that a carrier is ticketless when the request is submitted.
After the booking is complete, the PNRs must be checked manually to ensure that the vendor has accepted the booking and to correct any errors from the vendor that are communicated after the Host responds to the initial book request.
