Air Pricing by Refund Type

An Air Pricing request can be modified for either refundable (penalty) or non-refundable fares. Specific penalty limits for fares can also be defined in the request.

Request

The ProhibitNonRefundableFares and PenaltyFareInformation attributes of the AirPriceReq/AirPricingModifiers element support refund-related requests.

Refundable and Non-Refundable Fares

By default, both refundable and non-refundable fares are returned. If the ProhibitNonRefundableFares attribute is set to 'True. ProhibitNonRefundableFares="true" prohibits all fares with refund and changes with penalty.

Penalty Fares

By default, penalty fares are returned in the pricing response. to prohibit or specify fare penalities, use AirPriceReq/AirPricingModifiers/PenaltyFareInformation.

The PenaltyFareInformation child is used to prohibit or specify fare penalties.

If @ProhibitPenaltyFares='True', non-refundable fares are not returned. Only fares that do not include penalties defined by Category 16 fare rules are returned in the response. These penalties include: cancellation, change, refund, replacement, failure to use, and unticketed PTA.

If a specific penalty limit is desired, PenaltyFareInformation/PenaltyInfo can be used to specify the flat Amount or fare Percentage for the penalty limit.

Non-Exchangeable Fares

Non-exchangeable fares are not supported for Air segments, and any setting for AirPricingModifiers @ProhibitNonExchangeableFares is ignored. However, non-exchangeable fares are supported for Rail segments through Rail Availability and Low Fare Shopping.

Response

The Air Pricing response returns only fares that meet the requested parameters.

The Refundable attribute of AirPriceRsp/AirPriceResult/AirPricingSolution/AirPricingInfo indicates the refund status of the fare.

Errors

If the supplier does not support penalty limits sent in PenaltyInfo, a warning is returned.

Exceptions

Worldspan

Worldspan does not support prohibiting non-refundable fares.
