More information on Ticketless carriersTicketless carriers are airlines that do not settle with travel agencies outside of the Airline Reporting Corporation (ARC) or the Bank Settlement Plan (BSP). These airlines work in an environment without paper or electronic tickets. Airlines who settle with agencies outside of ARC or BSP require payment to confirm the booking. Airlines have various options for obtaining payment outside of BSP/ARC. Ticketless payment refers to the process in which the agent sends the airline credit card payment via a remark or SSR, instead of as the structured form of payment used by ticketed carriers.
Best Practices for Ticketless carriers: When it comes to pricing Fares with all ticketless carriers, best practice recommendation is to not quote the fare until the SSR is returned with the fare that the carrier says will be charged. Then the travel agent should complete the SSR with the FOP.
-
This is standard procedure for all ticketless carriers and is a known issue with their provider systems, which sometimes construct fares differently or have different inventory than is in Travelport.
-
Although these ticketless carriers acknowledge the problem does exist on all GDSs, they elected to not devote the resources to altering their fare filings to remedy this situation.
-
A standard Air Booking response is returned, with the addition of an Eticketability attribute in the AirPricingInfo of each Air Pricing Solution (AirCreateReservationRsp/AirReservation/AirPricingInfo).
For each Air Reservation, the values allowed are:
-
Yes indicates that the itinerary can be E-ticketed.
-
No indicates that the itinerary cannot be E-ticketed.
-
Required indicates that the itinerary must be E-ticketed and cannot be paper ticketed.
-
Ticketless indicates that ticketing does not apply for this carrier/solution.
If no results that permit E-ticketing are returned, the results are not filtered and a warning is returned: No applicable Eticketable flights
