Profile Overview

A profile is a collection of data that identifies the entity. Profiles can be created for agency groups, agencies, branch groups, branches, agents, accounts, traveler groups, or travelers. For example, a traveler profile might include all of the following information:

  • Traveler name

  • Loyalty numbers

  • Preferred information, such as a preferred airline or seating

  • Contact information

  • Travel documents

  • Forms of payment

Profiles can be used in many ways throughout the Universal Desktop application:

  • Populate the Universal Record or PNR with information, such as agency or traveler contact information.

  • Contain credentials for a given provider.

  • Indicate travel preferences and priorities.

Profile Types

There are seven types of profiles in the Universal Desktop and Universal API application:

  • Agency

  • Branch Group(s)

  • Branch

  • Agent

  • Account

  • Traveler Group(s)

  • Traveler

Agency Profiles

The first four profile types listed above relate to the agency infrastructure. Instead of having the standard MAR or agent profile, the whole company will have a series of profiles that can be built and linked together.

  1. Agency profile is the first, or topmost, profile. The Agency profile represents the company in its entirety. Agency profiles are created by Travelport.

  2. Branch Group profile is attached to the Agency profile. This layer of profiles is optional, but large agencies may want to break down areas of the company (for instance, by branding, country, or office location). The agency can have at most 7 branch group levels, which work as part of the Agency hierarchy. Branch group profiles are created by Travelport.

  3. Branch profile contains all provisioned data, i.e., GDS-specific data, such as pseudo city codes, host access profiles, and terminal addresses. In the Universal Desktop, the Branch profile is known as the "work area branch". Branch profiles can be attached at any level of the hierarchy, dependent on how the agency is set up. Branch profiles are created by the administrator within the Travelport Admin Portal.

  4. Agent profile contains the individual travel agent sign on. Agent profiles are created by the administrator within the Travelport Admin Portal.

Example of how the profile hierarchy works from Agency to Branch level:

Customer Profiles

The other three profile types (Account, Traveler Group, and Traveler) are part of the Customer profile hierarchy.

  • Account profile is used to create corporate or company profiles of the businesses that use the services of the Agency. There must be Travelers associated to these profiles. An account profile is at the top of the Customer profile hierarchy. Account profiles are normally associated to a branch profile. A branch can have an unlimited number of account profiles.

  • Traveler profile is used to create personal profiles for individual customers (or travelers) who use services of the Agency. These profiles may be associated to Account and Traveler Group profiles, or may be stand-alone profiles. A traveler profile falls at the bottom of the Customer profile hierarchy.

  • Traveler Group profile is optional and can be used to group or organise the travelers of a company into sub-groups. There may be up to eight traveler groups associated to an Account profile.

Notes:

  • Each account profile has its own Account hierarchy.

  • When an account profile is created, the system will auto-generate the Account and Traveler hierarchy levels (known as the anchor points).

  • The Account hierarchy can be customized by adding one to eight levels of Traveler Group between Account and Traveler, providing a maximum of ten levels in the Account hierarchy.

  • All Account hierarchy questions should be directed to the Agency Administrator, as Travelport has no knowledge of an agency's Account hierarchy.
