Viewing and Upselling Branded Fare Tiers
If brand tiers are available for the selected fare family, you can typically upsell to another tier from the currently booked tier. This task can be performed for bookings made through Fare Shopping or Air Availability and pricing.
To view and upsell brand tiers, you can use either:
Upselling Brand Tiers with Cryptic Commands
With cryptic commands, you can:
- View all tier levels for a branded fare.
- Add a known brand tier directly into the pricing.

To view all tier levels for a branded fare:
Enter BFA.
If upsell tiers are available, you can rebook for another branded fare. You can rebook or view more information about each available brand tier.
Price a known brand tier:
If you know the brand tier, you can enter the tier directly when you price the branded fare. For example, where BF4 is Branded Fare Tier Level 4, you can:
- Price by Brand: 4P*:BF4
- Price by Brand using segment select: 4P*-S1:BF2#S2:BF4
- Best Buy by Brand: 4PLFB:BF4
- Price by Brand with private/account code only fares: 4P*FSR#/@@ACCTCODE.AC#:BF4
Upselling Brand Tiers with the Brands and Ancillaries Screen
The pricing information is displayed. BF2 indicates Branded Fare Tier Level 2. An upsell option is also available to view.
To upsell from the current brand tier using the Brands and Ancillaries screen:
Fares are stored in the PNR, as fare quotes on the front of the PNR, and as Ticket Records. Any subsequent quoting or Ticket Record entries override the currently stored fare unless qualifiers are used to retain that fare.
- Price a PNR or retrieve a priced PNR.
- Click VIEW to redisplay the Brands and Ancillaries screen to see brand tiers for this fare family.
- Select a new brand tier. Note that the difference in price from the original fare is noted in the lower left corner.
How are displayed brands and classes determined for a fare family?As of the Smartpoint 9.0 release, the fare family displays only brands for the currently booked class or higher classes. Previously, the fare family displayed brands in the cabin class with the lowest price.
The following example shows the alternate brands displayed for an itinerary that is booked in an Economy ‘H’ class for a hypothetical airline.
The Economy class contains four brands. For all four brands, the lowest price exists for L class. H class has the first three brands only:
- Economy Lite (H, L)
- Economy Classic (H, L)
- Economy Premium (H, L)
- Economy Royal (L)
Before Smartpoint 9.0 was released, only the L classes displayed for each brand.
However, as of Smartpoint 9.0, Smartpoint aggregates all brands for the booked class of service with any brands in the cabin that does not have the booked class of service. The following classes are displayed for each brand:
- Economy Lite (H)
- Economy Classic (H)
- Economy Premium (H)
- Economy Royal (L)
- Click FARE QUOTE to display the Summary screen.
- Click REBOOK to book the updated brand selection.
Note: As of Smartpoint 9.0, the fare is automatically stored (4PQ) when you rebook. - Optional. Enter *R to redisplay the PNR.
- End transact (ER) the PNR to commit the new fare.
