Rate Caps
Rate caps and rate maximums allow you to set hotel policy based on rate amounts. Rates in excess of a cap are marked as out-of-policy. Rates in excess of a maximum are removed from the search results.
Note: To use rate caps, on the Policy Options and Exclusions page, you must also select the Mark as out of policy if rate returned is greater than the area rate cap option in the appropriate section or sections of that page (i.e., for preferred properties, preferred chains, and/or non-preferred properties and chains).
When you click the Rate Caps menu option for an existing hotel policy, the Rate Caps screen appears.
This screen lists the configured caps and maximums. Use the Edit, Copy, and Delete buttons () for each entry to edit, copy, and delete them. Use the add rate cap and add rate maximum links above each section to create new caps and maximums:
Applying Rate Caps over Multiple Nights
If there are multiple nightly rates when a hotel stay spans multiple nights, Universal Policy averages all rates over the time period to determine the nightly rate to compare against rate cap and rate maximum configurations.
Example:
A rate cap is configured at $240.
A booking has the first night at $240, the second night at $240, and the third night at $300.
Universal Policy averages these for a nightly rate of $260.
The booking is marked as out-of-policy because the average nightly rate of $260 is greater than the configured rate cap of $240.
