Introduction to Universal Policy Admin Portal

The Universal PolicyTM Admin Portal is a Travelport tool that works with online booking tools. Universal Policy allows your company to program your travel policies and thereby control policy.

The user interface for Universal Policy, covered in this documentation, is called the Universal Policy Admin Portal. Travelport also provides web services for configuring and applying policy as an alternative to the Admin Portal's user interface. This documentation provides procedures for administering travel policies in the Universal Policy Admin Portal. It describes how to create and manage policy groups and the air, hotel, and car policies attached to those groups. Where appropriate it also provides guidelines for setting policy options.

This documentation is updated for the most recent release of Universal Policy. Universal Policy 16.3 was released Dec. 13, 2016. For a list of the changes in each release, see What's New.

Creating and Managing Travel Policies in Universal Policy

To create travel policies and apply them to travelers, you take the following steps:

  • Create individual policies for air, car, and hotel bookings.
  • Create a policy group.
  • Select a policy group and attach one or more travel policies to it. This step applies the policies to the travelers assigned to that group in the corporate booking tool (CBT) used with the Admin Portal.
  • If you want to require travelers to select a reason for choosing out-of-policy travel, set up reason codes: Create groups of reason codes for air, car, and hotel, and attach that reason code group to a policy group.

You can also take several actions to manage existing travel policies, including the following:

  • Select a policy group to manage the individual policies attached to that group.
  • Select individual air, car, and hotel policies or reason codes and then edit, copy, or delete those policies as needed.
