Launching Smartpoint

Launching Smartpoint with Galileo Desktop Hidden

Smartpoint can be implemented to hide Galileo Desktop and display only Smartpoint when launched. There are two ways to hide Galileo Desktop:

  • Activating standalone Smartpoint
Standalone Smartpoint automatically hides Galileo Desktop and is activated by your agency.
  • Enabling Hide Galileo Desktop.
The Hide Galileo Desktop feature allows individual agents the option to hide Galileo Desktop if it is installed to display with Smartpoint.

Important! For both of standalone Smartpoint and Hide Galileo Desktop, it is strongly recommended that you test any third-party applications with Galileo Desktop hidden before using these features for the first time. Please work with your agency Smartpoint administrator to confirm that any scripts and third-party applications, including custom plug-ins, will continue to be compatible to Smartpoint. If a third-party application does not work, your agency should contact the third party and work with them to make the software compatible with Smartpoint.

Activating Standalone Smartpoint

Standalone Smartpoint activation is available to automatically hide Galileo Desktop.

To configure for standalone Smartpoint:

Standalone Smartpoint must be enabled with the proper configuration settings in Travelport Marketplace. For more information about configuring your agency for standalone Smartpoint, please contact your account executive.

To activate standalone Smartpoint:

If you are configured for standalone Smartpoint in Travelport Marketplace, the activation requirements vary depending on your version of Travelport Smartpoint:

  • Travelport Smartpoint 7.5.2 and earlier
  1. Enter #CONFIGPLUGINON in the Terminal Window after you install Travelport Smartpoint.
  2. To verify that Galileo Desktop is hidden:
  3. Enter #UPDATESETTINGS to verify that the configuration plug-in is set to “true”.
  4. Confirm in the Application Settings that the Hide Galileo Desktop check box is not displayed.
  • Travelport Smartpoint 8.0 and later

Smartpoint automatically confirms your configuration status with Travelport Marketplace. To update your configuration settings from Travelport Marketplace, you can either:

  • Sign out and sign in again to Travelport Smartpoint. (Recommended)
  • Use the same method as Smartpoint 7.5.2 and earlier by entering #CONFIGPLUGINON and #UPDATESETTINGS.

Note: The standalone Smartpoint configuration plug-in remains active, even if you disable all plug-ins or reset Smartpoint to the factory defaults.

Enabling Hide Galileo Desktop

If Smartpoint is installed to display Galileo Desktop, you have the option to hide Galileo Desktop.

  1. From the Application menu, select Application Settings.

  1. In the General Settings section, select the Hide Galileo Desktop check box.
  2. Click SAVE.

Tip! If you are configured for standalone Smartpoint, but you need to access functionality that is available only on Galileo Desktop, you can press CTRL+N to switch to native mode.
