Refiling Example

With release 18.2, Queue Control Console provides the ability to ticket based on a historical fare using current or historical taxes. When ticketing occurs some time after a fare is filed, the fare may no longer be available. The Refiling options on the Advanced Robotic Ticketing page lets you specify when to refile a fare and when to use current or historical taxes.

This topic contains:

  • Scenarios using current/historical taxes and setting tolerance types and values.

  • Storyboard illustrating the refiling using historical fares

  • Tax amendment while refiling using historical fares

Scenarios of historical fares with current/historical taxes and overriding taxes

This example explains the use of historical fares with current/historical taxes and overriding taxes.

  • When the Refile using historical fares with historical taxes (FQ.T) option is selected, the system uses FQ.H to find current taxes and uses historical taxes from FQ.T to find differences in taxes for computing tolerance.
  • When the Refile using historical fares with current taxes (FQ.H) option is selected, the system uses FQ.H to find current taxes and uses historical taxes from the existing fare quote to find differences in taxes for computing tolerance.

Note: If the fare is already filed as historical, then the system will continue to ticket the existing historical fare without refiling.

Assume the below data (no tolerance limits set on fare):

Current Fare=1000; Current YQ tax code = 50

Historical Fare = 900; Historical YQ = 45

Precondition 1 Precondition 2 Outcome Remarks

Refile using historical fares with current taxes (FQ.H)

Override tax code YQ with positive percentage of 10.

Historical YQ = 45, Current YQ = 50

(45-50)/50 = -10% (negative)

If historical YQ tax code was 55, it would have passed the positive tolerance limit.

Continues with Robotic ticketing as a negative tolerance was not specified.

Current YQ is the basis on which percentage is calculated as system refiles using current taxes

The historical YQ is already available as part of the existing filed fare

Refile using historical fares with current taxes (FQ.H)

Override tax code YQ with negative percentage of 10.

Historical YQ = 45, Current YQ = 50

(45-50)/50 = -10%

Continues with Robotic ticketing as the tax difference matches the tolerance percentage specified.

Current YQ is the basis on which percentage is calculated as system refiles using current taxes.

The historical YQ is already available as part of the existing filed fare.

Refile using historical fares with current taxes (FQ.H)

Override tax code YQ with negative percentage of 20.

Historical YQ = 45, Current YQ = 50

(45-50)/50 = -10%

Continues with Robotic ticketing as the tax difference (10%) falls within the tolerance percentage (20%) specified.

Current YQ is the basis on which percentage is calculated as system refiles using current taxes.

The historical YQ is already available as part of the existing filed fare.

Refile using historical fares with current taxes (FQ.H)

Override tax code YQ with negative percentage of 5.

Historical YQ = 45, Current YQ = 50

(45-50)/50 = -10%

Fails Robotic ticketing as the 10% reduction of YQ code is beyond the 5% tolerance limit.

Current YQ is the basis on which percentage is calculated as system refiles using current taxes.

The historical YQ is already available as part of the existing filed fare.

Refile using historical fares with historical taxes (FQ.T)

Override tax code YQ with positive percentage of 10.

Historical YQ = 45, Current YQ = 50

(50-45)/45 = 11.11% > 10%

Fails Robotic ticketing as the YQ tax difference has exceeded the specified tolerance limit.

Historical YQ (FQ.T) is the basis on which the percentage is calculated.

Current taxes will be available in the historical fare with current taxes (FQ.H).

Refile using historical fares with historical taxes (FQ.T)

Override tax code YQ with negative percentage of 10.

Historical YQ = 45, Current YQ = 50

(50-45)/45 = 11.11%

The tolerance limit specified is a negative percentage, but the discrepancy is positive, and no positive tolerance limit has been specified. Hence robotic ticketing will continue.

Continues with Robotic ticketing as a positive tolerance was not specified in the grid.

Historical YQ (FQ.T) is the basis on which the percentage is calculated.

Current taxes will be already available in the historical filed fare with current taxes (FQ.H).

Refile using historical fares with historical taxes (FQ.T)

Override tax code YQ with positive percentage of 20.

Historical YQ = 45, Current YQ = 50

(50-45)/45 = 11.11% (lies within 20% tolerance limit)

Continues with Robotic ticketing as the tax difference (11.11%) falls within the tolerance percentage (20%) specified.

Historical YQ (FQ.T) is the basis on which the percentage is calculated.

Current taxes will be available in the historical fare with current taxes (FQ.H).

Refile using historical fares with historical taxes (FQ.T)

Override Tax code YQ with negative percentage of 20 and a positive percentage of 10.

Historical YQ = 45, Current YQ = 50

(50-45)/45 = 11.11% (lies beyond the 10% positive tolerance limit)

Fails Robotic ticketing as the YQ tax difference has exceeded the specified positive tolerance limit.

Historical YQ (FQ.T) is the basis on which the percentage is calculated.

Current taxes will be available in the historical fare with current taxes (FQ.H).

Storyboard illustrating the refiling using historical fares

Step

Robotic ticketing steps for refiling historical fares

1

Retrieve PNR: 8VZ472

(Passenger names have been hidden for privacy.)

2

Retrieve the Fare Quote

The filed fare string for the PNR is highlighted.

The ITX fare is invalid (“I”) and filed on 02 Nov 17.

The historical YQ tax surcharge code is 203.00YQ

The historical fare quote with both historical taxes (FQ.T) and current taxes (FQ.H) is illustrated below. The historical fare quote with historical taxes is as per the command string below (the green component is the existing FQ string and .T part indicates the historical date of the filed fare – highlighted also in yellow above)

FQP1**ITX.2**ITX/-*3NY7/:P/CVS.T02NOV17

Total fare= 483.77 (Total fare per pax) x 2 = 967.54

Total base fare per pax= 114

The historical fares with current taxes is as below:

FQP1**ITX.2**ITX/-*3NY7/:P/CVS.H02NOV17

As seen below, the current taxes (370.91) is different from the historical taxes (369.77). The difference in tax per pax is 370.91-369.77= 1.14

So, total tax difference = 1.14 x 2 = 2.28

So, the total amount in this case is 2.28 +967.54= 969.82

Fare quote with Current tax codes shown below:

In this example, there is no change to YQ tax code but there are minor changes to other tax codes.

3

Select the options in RT as shown below. Assume the user has specified the tolerance limit as mentioned in the grid below:

Based on the above options, QCC will first try to refile the fare using the original filed string. In the current example, the original fare is not available.

If the fare was available, the historical filed fares would not be considered, and the fare will be filed as per the current workflow for re-filing fares when the newly filed fare is available.

QCC will now attempt to refile the fare based on the historical fare quote and current taxes as filed on 02 NOV’17 (not the creation date of the PNR but the date the fare was filed, though in this case it matches).

FQP1**ITX.2**ITX/-*3NY7/:P/CVS.H02NOV17

The historical fares will not be guaranteed and so any fare guarantee check must be skipped.

In this example, the historical YQ and current YQ is the same and so the tolerance limit specified in the grid will be met. There is no tax adjustment necessary and the fare will be refiled with the historical fare quote using current taxes.

Tax amendment while refiling using historical fares

Consider the options for refiling as shown in the below screenshot.

Assume the filed fare is an ITX fare and refiling the fare does not give us a valid fare. This means that fare will be refiled using historical fares using current taxes and the tax codes mentioned below will be refiled using the historical value if it meets the specified tolerance criteria.

Assume the historical YQ tax code is 200.00 and the current tax code is 210.

Difference in YQ %= 200-210/210 = -4.76% (which lies within the 7% negative tolerance percentage specified).

The system does the below to amend the YQ tax to the historical amount, as it lies within the tolerance specified.

  1. Convert filed fare (1) into a Manual Fare Build screen: *FB1

  2. Amend tax item 9 (say the YQ tax code in the 9th tax item) to show the correct historical YQ amount: FBUTAX9/200.00YQ

  3. Delete total: FBUTTL/
(The total amount will be automatically recalculated.)

  4. File the Manual Fare Build screen: FBF or FBFALL

Note: This process will occur for every filed fare that meets the criteria. The example above is only for illustrating the process.

If the user specifies more tax codes in the grid, the system will check the discrepancies in the historical value and the current value for the mentioned tax codes and verify if they are within the specified tolerance limit. If any of them exceeds the tolerance limit, the filed fare will not be passed for ticketing.

The new fare computed by the host must lie within the tolerance limit provided for the total fare amount for the fare quote to be ticketed based on the tolerance limit rules for total fare amount.
