Use the Preferences function to customize various aspects of GlobalWare to your particular needs, such as colors, checks, file directories, printer options and locations, dashboard images, and global distribution system (GDS) interfaces.
To access the preferences, on the System submenu, click Preferences.
The Preferences screen appears.
Except when otherwise noted, preferences apply to this workstation. For example, if you change colors, the new color applies only to this workstation, not any other workstations that run GlobalWare.
Interfaces
The interface tabs at the top of the screen enable you to set up interface preferences. For a description of the fields, click the appropriate link below:
Colors
GlobalWare enables you to customize two colors:
- Focus – The background color of the active data entry field.
- Error – The background color of a data entry field with missing or invalid data.
To change either of these colors, click the ellipsis () button associated with the Focus or Error field. Select one of the displayed colors by clicking it. When you have selected the color, click OK to return to the Preferences screen.
Checks
Field | Description |
---|---|
Type |
GlobalWare provides two formats for checks: dot matrix and laser. Dot matrix format is the stub followed by the check. Laser format is the check followed by two stubs. Select Dot Matrix or Laser from the drop-down list. To test the laser format, click CHECK FORMAT. For more information, see Customizing the Laser Check Format. |
Ask for Comments |
GlobalWare prints the account ID address on the check. You also have the option to print comments on the checks generated through the Write Individual Checks function. If you want to enter comments, or be able to edit the address, select this option. If you do not select this option, GlobalWare will print the account ID address and no comments on the check. (For checks generated through the Batch Checks function, GlobalWare prints the account ID address and no comments on the check.) |
No Gross / Comm on Stub |
For checks paying the provider for invoice items, the stub includes the gross amount, commission amount, and net amount (amount paid). If you prefer that the provider not know the gross and commission amount, select this option to suppress printing that information on the stub. Note: This option applies to all workstations printing checks. |
For CHECK FORMAT, see Customize the Laser Check Format.
Note: This button applies to all workstations printing checks.
For more information about printing checks, see Print Checks Overview.
