GDS Interface Overview

The global distribution system (GDS) creates a text file that contains basic information needed for the back-office system (traveler names, ticket numbers, airline/hotel/car provider information, and sales amounts). If additional information is needed for reporting purposes, it can be added in ticketing remarks (T-) or in passive cruise (CRU) or tour (TUR) segments for leisure sales. Each GDS has unique formats for transmitting data to GlobalWare. Review the interface formats for your GDS.

Processing the GDS Interface

You should process the GDS interface that applies to your agency on a daily basis. The available GDS interfaces are:

Several things occur during the interface process:

  1. All reservation information is downloaded from the GDS.
  2. New invoices are created in the Invoice table and associated tables.
  3. If enabled, GlobalWare creates a new account ID for any invoice that does not have a matching ID in the Account ID table.
