Universal Policy Summary

Universal Policy is a Travelport tool that works with corporate booking tools (CBTs). Universal Policy allows your company or agency to set up your travel policies and thereby control policy. This page provides basic background information about how Universal Policy works. For detailed information about the options available in Universal Policy, see the Universal Policy Admin UI online help.

Creating and Managing Travel Policies in Universal Policy

To create travel policies and apply them to travelers, you take the following steps:

  1. Create individual policies for air, car, and hotel bookings.
  2. Create a policy group.
  3. Select a policy group and attach one or more travel policies to it. This step applies the policies to the travelers in that group. (Note that travelers are created and then assigned to policy groups through your corporate booking tool, not through Universal Policy.)
  4. If you want to require travelers to select a reason for choosing out-of-policy travel, set up reason codes: Create groups of reason codes for air, car, and hotel, and attach that reason code group to a policy group.

You can also take several actions to manage existing travel policies and groups, including the following:

  • Add or remove the individual policies attached to a policy group.
  • Edit, copy, or delete individual air, car, and hotel policies or reason codes as needed.

These steps to create and manage policy can be done through the user interface of the Universal Policy Admin Portal, or via the Admin Web Services.
