Branded fares

Airlines organize their fares into commercially recognized products called brands, which they offer to consumers as products. Different service offerings are associated with each brand. Some brands may include free-of-charge services as well as services for an additional charge. Each brand exists as a tier in relation to other brands within an airline program. The ability to upsell from one brand to a higher brand is an integral part of branding.

Brands are associated with a fare family. A fare family can be defined by geographical locations or travel dates. For example, fare families can define a carrier’s different markets. If a carrier has only one global market, then the carrier has only one fare family with several brands within that fare family.

Brands are the levels of service offered within a fare family. For example, a carrier may have a brand for first class service, a brand for business class service, and a brand for economy service. Each brand can be associated with one fare family or multiple fare families.

For branded fare participant airlines, information relating to the fare may be displayed from the pricing response and an upsell may be available.

Brand modifier

A brand modifier will quote the fare based on the owning carrier's fare attributes when/if available. All pricing inputs may be combined with price by brand modifiers.

  • You can add a brand modifier to any fare quote entry, including FQBB, FQBA, FQBC, FQA

  • You may use a price by brand modifier with or without an account code.

  • The brand modifier represents a specific brand level as defined by the carrier.

  • Each carrier uses different brand modifiers. They do not always start at 1 and are not always consecutive.

  • Brand modifiers may be up to 4 digits (i.e.: BF001 or BF1 or BF0010).
