Fare display search qualifier formats
You may obtain a more appropriate fare display using search qualifiers. You may input search qualifiers in any order as part of the initial fare display input or to update an existing display.
Carrier qualifier
The system default is to display fares for all carriers. You may use the carrier qualifier to limit the display to a specific carrier.
Example entry: FD20FEBGRUPAR/AF
Points to note:
-
Only fares for AF are displayed. You may specify a maximum of three carriers in a fare display entry.
-
You may add specific carriers to an existing fare display with a follow-up entry: FD/AF/BA/TP
-
When you specify a carrier in the fare display entry, you may switch from fare display to availability display by selecting the line number or by entering AV followed by the line number. For example, AV2 will display the availability for the class of line number 2 of the fare display.
Journey type qualifier
The system default displays both one-way and round-trip fares. You may use the journey type qualifier to limit the display to either a one-way or round-trip fare display.
Example entry: FD03JANYYRFRA-OW
Points to note:
-
Only one-way fares are displayed.
-
You may display round-trip fares using the qualifier –RT.
-
You may add the journey type qualifier to an existing fare display with a follow-up entry: FD–RT or FD–OW
-
The warning UNSALEABLE FARES at the top of the screen indicates that additional fares exist which may not be sold at your agency location.
Passenger type code qualifiers
HELP PTC or H/PTC
Adult fares are displayed as the system default. For fares other than Adult, you must use a passenger type code. ATPCO-defined, three-character passenger type codes and descriptions may be displayed using the following entries.
Format |
Explanation |
---|---|
PTC |
Display a complete list of codes and descriptions |
PTC/U |
Display a list of codes and descriptions beginning with the letter U |
PTD/STANDBY |
Search for a code by description Note: All passenger type codes/descriptions that match the word are displayed. |
Passenger type codes with age requirements
When requesting fares for some passenger types, you may need to specify the age of the passenger within the passenger type code. The input will vary depending on the way the airline has filed the fare.
For example:
Passenger type code |
Explanation |
---|---|
CNN or C08 (age 8) |
Accompanied child |
SNN or S65 (age 65) |
Senior citizen with age requirement |
MNN or M05 (age 5) |
Military child |
Example entry: FD14MARDPSDEL/AL*CNN
Note that only child fares are displayed. The passenger type code CNN appears below the fare amount along with the ticket designator TD: CH25.
A maximum of six passenger description codes may be used in one entry.
Example entry: FD30MAYNBOLOS/ET*ADT*CNN*INF
Note that fares are displayed for all three passenger types. However, as fares are displayed in low-to-high order, the infant fares generally appear first. Scroll down and view more fare options.
Fare basis code qualifier
Infant fares are shown at the top of the screen, as they are the lowest fares. It is possible scroll down through the list to find the corresponding child and adult fares.
Example entry: FD12MARSYDLON@@OLNC00S4
Note that infant, child, and adult fares are displayed for the specified fare basis code.
Unbundled fares identification
Increasingly, traditional carriers are offering cheaper fares that do not include the types of services usually associated with these carriers, such as free hold baggage and a choice of seat. These fares are known as “unbundled fares.”
To check if a fare being offered from the fare display is unbundled, enter: FH*1
Type MD to move down to the FARE TYPE.
-
Unbundled return fares will be shown with the fare type ERU.
-
Unbundled one-way fares will be shown with the fare type EOU.
Note: As airlines can change fare types, checking the rules is recommended.
Combining search qualifiers
You may use search qualifiers to display a more appropriate choice of fares. You may use multiple search qualifiers in combination and in any order.
Example entry: FD12JUNBRUKGL-RT*ADT*CNN/SN
