Search Feature
The help system's Search feature is useful for finding topics that match the word or phrase you specify.
After typing a word or phrase, press Enter or click the search icon.
Search tips:
- To search for a phrase, enclose the phrase in quotations. For example, entering "pending disbursement" returns only the topics that contain the phrase pending disbursement.
- Words with variant endings are returned in results. For example, a search for car returns topics with cars, carry, and care.
- Boolean operators are supported. Boolean operators are not case sensitive.
- AND narrows the search and retrieves only the topics that contain all of the words. When separating words with blank spaces, the AND is inferred. You also can use a plus (+) or ampersand (&).
- OR broadens the results by retrieving topics that contain any of the words it separates. You also can use a pipe (|).
- NOT finds topics that contain one term but not the other. You also can use a caret (^).
- Use parentheses and quotation marks to combine Boolean phrases and search terms. For example, ("pending disbursement") AND ("awaiting approval") returns topics that contain both phrases enclosed by parentheses.
The Search feature does not support:
- Wildcard (*) searches
- Natural language searches, such as entering How can I search for terms and phrases in the help system?
