A journal entry is a group of general ledger transactions that defines one accounting event. For example, a journal entry for a provider check consists of a bank transaction and one or more accounts payable transactions. In GlobalWare, a journal entry is uniquely identified by its control number.

Each general ledger transaction in a journal entry is identified by its sequence number.
