Duplicate Chain/Car Codes
Some chain codes are used by both a hotel chain and a car company. For example, Clarion Hotels and Fiesta Rent-a-Car both have chain code CR.
GlobalWare provides an efficient method for handling duplicate chain/car codes. The Duplicate Chain Code table stores a travel type and an alternate chain code for each duplicate chain code. GlobalWare provides a list of duplicate chain codes, which you can add to if needed.
Which travel type is the alternate is your choice. The suggested ID for the alternate is the chain code plus the travel type. For example, the alternate ID in the provided list for CR is CRC.
As each record comes over the interface, GlobalWare compares the chain code with what is stored in the Duplicate Chain Code table. When GlobalWare detects a duplicate code, it stores the alternate if the travel type of the interface record matches the travel type of the duplicate. For example, when the interface reads a hotel with CR, it stores CR in the invoice item, but when it reads a car booking with CR, it stores CRC in the invoice item.
If a new duplicate pair occurs, you need to add it. If you want to change which travel type gets the alternate code, you need to edit.
The alternate chain code must be a valid provider account ID. Before you add or edit a duplicate chain code, create the provider account ID. For example, if you want Clarion Hotels to be stored with the alternate code, create a provider account ID, such as CRH.
To access the Duplicate Chain/Car Codes option, on the System submenu, click Duplicate Chain/Car Codes.
The Duplicate Chain/Car Codes screen appears.
