Locating/Selecting General Ledger Chart Numbers
In many functions, you can or must specify one or more general ledger accounts. (A general ledger account consists of the chart number and branch number.) You have several options for specifying a general ledger account:
- Type the entire chart number.
- Type a partial chart number. The Select GL Account dialog box appears with all accounts for which the chart begins with the partial number you entered.
- Type alpha characters. The Select GL Account dialog box appears with all accounts for which the name contains those characters. For example, if you enter RENT, the screen will include charts such as Rent Expense and Non-current Assets.
- Type ?type for the Select GL Account dialog box to list that type of account (?A for asset accounts, ?L for liabilities, ?C for capital, ?R for revenue, ?E for expense accounts, or ?S for sales).
In some results grids, if you enter a complete and valid general ledger account (chart and branch), the Select GL Account dialog box does not appear.
On some screens, such as the GL Edit &Query screen or the GL Entries grid on the Write Individual Checks version of the Print Checks screen, after typing a chart number, you can press Enter or the Tab key to display the Select GL Account dialog box. This dialog box lists all chart and branch combinations with that chart number.
