FareQuoteStorePrice_8_0 allows a user to obtain a fare quote, for a booked itinerary, which is the lowest fare for the booking code, origin/destination, and dates, and then store the fare quote in the PNR/BF. This step is a prerequisite to ticketing the PNR/BF.
Storing fares allows a history of the fare transactions to be kept. Storing the fare creates an Automatic Ticketing Fare Quote (ATFQ) field in the PNR (Apollo) or an FF (Filed Fare) field in the BF (Galileo). Storing fares is required on the Galileo® CRS to guarantee the fare. Storing fares is not technically required on the Apollo® CRS; however, many travel providers require stored fare quotes as part of their business process. The requirement to store fares is controlled in the AAT table.
On Apollo, fare quotes for a booked itinerary are not guaranteed and can change any time prior to ticketing. A fare is not guaranteed until the ticket has been issued. Therefore, a lapse between booking and ticketing could theoretically result in an itinerary being ticketed at a significantly different fare than the fare that was originally quoted to the customer. If the original fare quote is not stored, there is no way to reconcile the original fare quoted to the traveler with the actual ticketed fare. Storing the price also allows the price of the air segments to be documented, and keeps a record of the modifiers used to generate a specific fare.
A PNR/BF can contain Multiple Stored Fare fields. Each passenger and segment combination can be stored in an ATFQ field only once. For example, if you store the first Name field in an ATFQ field, that Name field cannot be stored in another ATFQ field. After a fare is stored, the PNR/BF can still be committed to the CRS (End Transacted); however, it is advisable for the travel provider to verify a stored fare before ticketing.
There are several ways to store a fare:
As Booked - Stores the fare in the same class of service through which the availability was booked.
With Pricing Modifiers - Stores the fare with pricing modifiers, such as a coupon, companion fare, or other discount.
With Pricing & Ticket Modifiers - Stores the fare with pricing modifiers and also modifiers that define the actual ticketing format, such as endorsements or ticket designators, which indicate the type of discount.
