The Fare Quote (Best Buy) Dollar Saver finds the best price for the booked itinerary, taking into account all classes that are currently available on the flights that make up the itinerary and includes the rebooking details in the response.
Transaction Name:
FareQuoteDollarSaver_8_3
Can any other transactions(s) perform this same task?
No.
Can this task be performed in a sessionless environment?
No. In a sessionless environment, the equivalent transaction is FareQuoteFlightSpecific_8_3 (Flight Specific Best Buy).
Are the request and response identical on both the Apollo and Galileo systems?
Yes.
List any industry-specific knowledge required to understand this task in terms of the specific business process.
The <NewBICSegMapping> tag sends back the rebooking codes. In order for the new fare quote to be valid, the user must rebook.
Explain any special limits or distinct restrictions to the input data that may not be readily apparent.
The itinerary has a maximum of eight segments. More segments returns an error.
Request:
The user must send a <DollarSaverMods> request with either a <PsgrMods>, <FqPicOnly>, or <PassengerType> element tag, which contain passenger information.
The <PassengerType> element tag allows users to supply personal geography details in the query, which allow pricing of fares that have geographical restrictions, such as country residency or state employment. Fares that have such restrictions will not be quoted unless matching personal geography information for the passenger is given in the query; without appropriate personal geography information, a user might not receive a lower fare which is applicable to their request. (In that case, the user might not see an error either, as the fares which are returned match the criteria which they have entered). The <PassengerType> element tag also allows a user to enter an amount increase (IF) or decrease (DF) of more than 6 characters when necessary (e.g., IF20000).
The proprietary Galileo International Passenger Information Codes (PIC) will be discontinued in early 2005. Users who send data in the <PIC> tag of the <PsgrMods> or <FqPicOnly> element tags (which currently accepts PICs) should use the ATPCo Passenger Type Codes (PTC).
It is recommended that the <PassengerType> element tag be sent in the request rather than the <PsgrMods> or <FqPicOnly> element tag. The <PassengerType> element tag currently allows the user to enter only PTC codes in the <PTC> field. The <PassengerType> element tag also lets the user specify whether they want to use the <PricePTCOnly> sub-element tag (PIC Only) to search for fares for a specific PTC only (similarly to the <FqPicOnly> element tag).
If the user wishes to have ‘Airline Private Fares’ considered when quoting, the <SegSelection> element tag must be sent on the query with the indicator for Airline Private Fares, <ReqAirVPFs>, set to ‘Y’ and a <PFQual> section. The response formats do not vary if ‘Airline Private Fares’ are returned.
Prerequisite tasks:
Before the fare quote (best buy) dollar saver request can be sent, a booked itinerary must exist.
Expected response:
The response is expected to include the <NewBICSegMapping> tag, which details the classes in which the itinerary needs to be rebooked to qualify for the best price. If the itinerary is already booked in the cheapest class, the <NewBICSegMapping> tag is not returned.
