Currency conversion task provides information to convert one currency to another.

This transactions uses the Banker’s Buying Rate (BBR) to perform the conversions. The table used is updated on a weekly basis. If more current fare information or another type of rate is needed (i.e. Banker’s Selling Rate (BSR), then another transactions should be used. Refer to transaction FRQ00CHRGFI.

CurrencyConversion_6_0 supports a currency conversion task. The user must be able to understand the use of conversion factors and understand the differences between Bank Buy Rate, Bank Sell Rate, and IATA Clearing House Rates to determine if this transaction is adequate for their needs.

If two different currencies are not specified, USD will be the default for the second currency. USD will be used as a triangulation factor unless EUR is requested for a euro participating country currency.
Request:
The 6170 NWB is used as input. Up to 10 currency code pairs can be specified in one entry.
Prerequisite tasks:
No prerequisite tasks are required.
Expected response:
A 6171 response NWB is returned in all known cases.
Error and warning responses:
Error messages will be returned in the 6171 response block using the Type response returned as E, followed by a 64 character text message and a four character error number.
Follow-on requests:
Currency conversion is usually used as a standalone entry. Conversion factor data is used by the user and is not required as input in to any follow on entry.
