Requesting Hotel Availability and Pricing

Selecting Available Room Rates

Note: Standard Hotel Availability provides both hotel property options and limited room rates. Therefore, this task can be part of both the property selection and room rate selection processes.

Requesting a Standard Hotel Availability

Description

Returns a list of available hotel properties with a limited list of available booking codes (room rates) for each property. Returns a more limited list of properties than a Hotel Index search, but returns only hotels with available rooms.

Request

The default standard availability is made by city code; however, a number of modifiers can be added to the request, including: reference point search, postal code search, or a number of hotel search qualifiers, such as amenities, distance or direction from a specific location, rate categories, AAA rating, and property types.

Response

Returns a list of approximately 12 to 14 hotel properties, with highest and lowest available room rates for each property. A brief description of the property is also returned. Properties are returned in a random sequence, based on distance bucket, unless additional modifiers are used in the request.

Dependencies

Can be used as the initial or sole hotel search request, if the end user does not require a comprehensive list of properties for the requested location. However, a standard availability must be followed by a Complete Hotel Availability to retrieve all available booking codes the property.

Recommended Use

Recommended for end users who do not require the extensive, detailed search response offered by a hotel index, or who want pricing options for a property within a single transaction.

Requesting a Complete Hotel Availability

Description

Returns all available booking codes (room rates) for the specified property.

If an Alternate Availability was requested from an Inside Availability vendor, and the requested property has no availabilities, the vendor returns alternate properties in the same hotel chain or an affiliated chain that has available room inventory.

Request

The RoomMaster Property ID is required to request complete availability.

Response

Complete Availability is requested for a specific property,  to display information needed to process a sell. The Complete Availability response includes a fuller description of each room type available. Complete Availability is generally used following a Standard Availability to select a specific booking code.

The Complete Hotel Availability retrieves rates from the vendor's own host system for those vendors that participate in Inside Availability. Complete Availability returns from the RoomMaster database for vendors who do not participate in Inside Availability. RoomMasterâ„¢ requires Complete Availability because this transaction is the only way to establish a proper booking code to sell the hotel segment.

Dependencies

Complete availability can be used as the first hotel booking task, if the RoomMaster Property ID is already known. However, in many hotel business processes, a hotel index or standard hotel availability task is used first to select a property or obtain the RoomMaster Property ID.

Recommended Use

Hotel Complete Availability is required as a pre-requisite to selling the hotel segment. If the RoomMaster Property ID is manually or programmatically provided, this task can be used directly for a direct sell function.
