Testing Driver Configurations with Host Print Data
The Test Print button on the GPM.NET Status window validates that Galileo Print Manager.net can communicate with the selected device driver by sending print output to the device. This test does not produce print output that represents actual output from the host. It only produces test output that validates communication with the device driver. This topic describes how to use actual data from Apollo or Galileo hosts to test printing on the device.
You can test printing with buffered host data in two ways:
- Resending buffered print jobs — The host system stores print jobs that were previously sent to devices in a buffer for a period of days set in the Agency Account Table (AAT). You can find and resend a print job from this buffer by issuing commands from the host. See Resending Print Jobs from the Host Buffer.
- Sending print jobs from Passenger Name Records (PNRs) — You can retrieve a PNR from the host, and then send a print job, by issuing commands from the host. See Sending Print Jobs from PNRs.
Resending Print Jobs from the Host Buffer
To test device printing by sending a print job that is stored in the host buffer:
-
From the host's terminal window, enter one of the following commands to retrieve ticket or itinerary print jobs from the buffer:
HQB/TKT/DS
(for tickets)HQB/ITN/DS
for itineraries)
The first ticket or itinerary in a set of tickets or itineraries appears in the terminal window.
- To move up and down through the set of tickets or itineraries, enter:
HQB/MD
(to move up)HQB/MU
(to move down)
-
To send the displayed ticket or itinerary to the print device, enter:
HQNN
If the device driver is configured properly, the device prints the job.
Sending Print Jobs from PNRs
To test device printing by retrieving a PNR from the host and sending a print job:
- From the host's terminal window, find a PNR that has the ticket or itinerary to send to the print device.
- Display the desired ticket or itinerary.
- To send the displayed ticket or itinerary to the print device, enter one of the following commands:
HBDTD
(to send a ticket from Apollo host)HBDID
(to send an itinerary from Apollo host)TKPDTD
(to send a ticket from Galileo host)TKPDID
(to send an itinerary from Galileo host)
If the device driver is configured properly, the device prints the job.
