NULL Driver

This topic explains how to configure a NULL Driver. It continues the procedure started in Adding and Configuring Device Drivers.

Notes:

  • Use the NULL Driver as a convenience measure to process redundant documents without printing output. WARNING: Any print requests sent to the NULL Driver are automatically and permanently deleted.
  • The NULL Driver can be used by agencies that no longer want to print ticket coupons, but due to requirements within Apollo and Galileo, must have an ATB device configured in Galileo Print Manager.net. This configuration enables the agency to use the NULL Driver and avoid needing to have a physical serial port available on the workstation to which an ATB device must be configured. With a physical serial port, data is sent to the serial port and then discarded using the serial port’s configuration within the device manager.
  • You can use the NULL Driver for any device type to suppress document printing. Generally, it is used for ATB printers.

After clicking Next on the first Add Device wizard dialog box (see Adding and Configuring Device Drivers), the next Add Device wizard dialog box for NULL Driver configuration appears:

  1. Click Next.

The final Add Device wizard dialog box appears:

  2. Click Finish.
