Who is Galileo?

Galileo International LLC (“Galileo”) is a solutions provider to the global travel marketplace, providing electronic distribution services through its computerised reservation systems and innovative Internet-based solutions (collectively referred to as the “Galileo Computer Reservation System”). Galileo is a value-added distributor of travel inventory dedicated to supporting its travel agency and corporate customers and, through them, expanding traveller choice. Galileo has a number of subsidiaries which operate in a number of countries within the Europe, Middle East and Africa, as well as throughout Asia, Pacific and Australasia . Galileo and Galileo 360o Learning

The Galileo 360° Learning Service (“Galileo 360° Learning”) is a Galileo service providing access to computer based learning which is the newest fastest and easiest way to improve your performance when using the Galileo Computer Reservation System. It is offered to Galileo’s travel agency owners and agents and to students in selected travel colleges.

Please note that Galileo may update or change these Terms & Conditions for Galileo 360° Learning from time to time to reflect changes in the service or laws affecting Galileo 360° Learning, or for other good reasons. Galileo reserves the right to make these changes and the user is responsible for regularly reviewing these Terms & Conditions. In the event significant changes are made in the way Galileo treats personal information, users will be informed by Galileo sending a notice to each user’s primary email address specified by the user in the Galileo 360° Learning registration pages or by placing a prominent notice on the Galileo 360o Learning portal.  Continued access to or use of Galileo 360° Learning after any such change shall constitute your acceptance to such changes. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, any new features which change or improve Galileo 360° Learning shall be subject to these Terms & Conditions, as modified from time to time.

Prior to using Galileo 360° Learning, please read and agree to the following:

  1. Galileo collects personal information when you register with or use Galileo 360° Learning.  Personal information is information which identifies you as an individual, sometimes referred to as ‘personal data’, and may include your name, email address as well as information specific to learning content you have entered on Galileo 306° Learning. 

  2. You hereby expressly authorise Galileo to use personal information identified in paragraphs 1 above for the purposes described in these Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, which can be accessed as a separate document. 

  3. You will indicate your express approval to these Terms & Conditions by submitting your details at the user registration page.

  4. Personal information provided by you for the purposes of accessing Galileo 360° Learning will be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA) to the United States of America (USA).  The EEA consists of all the members of the EU (currently comprising Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovak Republic and Slovenia and the UK) together with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.  Because of this transfer outside the EEA, and the fact that not all countries outside the EEA have such stringent personal information protective measures as those within the EEA, you are required to provide your express authorisation to this proposed transfer. You should be assured however, that Galileo has security measures in place which will ensure the confidentiality of the information and these measures will be reviewed over time and upgraded in line with legal and technological developments.

Your use of this website and your acceptance of these Terms and Conditions constitute a legally binding contract between you and Galileo. Please make sure that you have read these Terms and Conditions before using the Galileo 360° Learning service.

By using this website you agree that you will only use it for your personal and non-commercial use.

You may not use this website for any purpose that is deemed unlawful or prohibited by these Terms and Conditions.

You may not: (i) use any device, software, or routine that interferes or attempts to interfere with the normal operation of this website; (ii) perform any action that is deemed by us to impose a burden or unreasonable load on our computer equipment; (iii) use any "robot," "spider," or other automatic device (or a program, algorithm, or methodology with similar processes or functionalities), or any manual process or functionality, to monitor, assemble, analyze, index, copy, transmit, distribute, transfer, or link to any of the pages, data, materials, or content available on this website.

You may not modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information, software, products, or services that are available via this website, except as expressly provided in these Terms and Conditions or as permitted by any applicable law.

You may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any Galileo 360° Learning account which is not your own, software, computer systems, or networks associated with Galileo 360° Learning. You may not obtain or attempt to obtain any materials or information through any means not intentionally made available or provided for through Galileo 360° Learning.

Galileo's right to use feedback or suggestions you submit

Galileo would like to receive your voluntary feedback and suggestions in respect of Galileo 360° Learning so that we can continually improve Galileo 360° Learning for you and other users. When you submit feedback and suggestions, please understand that Galileo needs to have full rights to use your feedback and suggestions without any encumbrances. In particular, you should understand that by submitting any feedback or suggestions to Galileo concerning Galileo 360° Learning, you warrant and represent that you own or otherwise control the rights necessary to do so and you are granting Galileo and its affiliated companies permission to use such feedback for any purpose.

This section is inapplicable to any personal information that you provide in connection with your registration for or use of the Galileo 360° Learning. Such information is subject to the terms of the Galileo 360° Learning Privacy Policy.

Research

From time to time, Galileo may invite users to participate in usability studies, surveys, and other types of qualitative and quantitative research to help Galileo plan new features to add to Galileo 360o Learning and help understand users’ wants and needs. Galileo also conducts research using data from internal records.

Galileo recruits research subjects through a variety of means, including advertising banners, email messages sent to users who have already indicated a desire to participate in user research, and through market research firms. Participants in research are often required to sign separate privacy or confidentiality agreements and may be compensated for their time.

All materials and content provided through Galileo 360o Learning including, but not limited to, software, images, illustrations, text, audio, and video clips, are protected by or consist of copyright, trademarks, service marks, and/or other intellectual property rights ("Intellectual Property"). The Intellectual Property is governed and protected by UK , EU , US and world-wide copyright, trademark, and/or other intellectual property laws and treaty provisions, privacy and publicity laws, and communications regulations and statutes ("the Intellectual Property Rights"). The Intellectual Property is owned or controlled by us or other parties that have licensed to us the right to use their intellectual property (collectively the "IP Providers").

You agree to abide by all additional copyright notices, information, or restrictions contained in any material or content on this website. You may download any of the Intellectual Property solely for your personal, non-commercial use, consistent with these Terms and Conditions, provided that you maintain all copyright and other notices contained in such Intellectual Property. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, upload, post, transmit, distribute, and/or exploit any Intellectual Property in any way (including by e-mail or other electronic means) without our prior written consent or that of the IP Providers. Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions constitute an agreement between you and Galileo 360o Learning which is governed by the laws of England . You hereby consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts in all disputes arising out of or relating to the use of this website.

Galileo 360o Learning Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy shall be deemed to be incorporated into the Terms & Conditions of the Galileo 360° Learning service. It can be accessed as a separate document.

We at Galileo and the family of companies at our parent company Cendant Corporation, recognise the importance of protecting the privacy of certain information collected about our users and prospective users (referred to as "user", "you" or "your"). This privacy statement discloses what information we gather (where applicable), how we use it, and how to correct or change it. At Galileo, it is our intention to give you an understanding about how we collect information about you including personal information.  Personal information is information which identifies you as an individual, sometimes referred to as “personal data” and may include your name, email address as well as information specific to learning content you have entered on Galileo 360° Learning. [For further details see section on “What Information about our users do we collect?”].  Galileo agrees that it will only use your personal information in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and account information. Furthermore, you are responsible for all activities that occur in your account and you agree to notify Galileo immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. Galileo is not responsible for any loss that you may incur as a result of any unauthorized person using your account or your password.

Is my information secure from others using the Galileo 360o Learning service?

The security of all information associated with our users is an important concern to us. We exercise care in providing secure transmission of your information from your computer to our servers. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, whilst we strive to protect your information, Galileo and its affiliates can't guarantee or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or from our online products or services, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, Galileo uses industry standard efforts to safeguard the confidentiality of your information, such as firewalls and Secure Socket Layers. However, "perfect security" does not exist on the Internet.

What information about our users do we collect?

We collect information (including some personal information) by specifically requesting if from you e.g. upon registration. Once registered with Galileo 360° Learning you do not remain anonymous. You are required to register to have access to Galileo 360° Learning.

The minimum registration information required consists of your name, email address, preferred language and your time zone.

You will also have the option to edit or change information provided at any time in your Galileo 360° Learning account such as your email address. Personal information and preferences are automatically saved in your Galileo 360° Learning account when you complete the registration page and submit it to Galileo.

Galileo automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser, including all users’ IP addresses, cookie information, and the page you request. [A computer’s IP address is the address provided to a web browser or other application to enable it to know where information should be sent over a network. For further information see below section on Cookies].

This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that Galileo does not own or control or to people that Galileo does not employ or manage.

Information Sharing and Disclosure Practices

Galileo may use personal information for many purposes, including the following:

  • To provide Galileo 360o Learning to you, the user.
  • To provide information to Galileo subscribers such as which employees have used Galileo 360o Learning and which training modules they have entered.
  • To customize the content seen by the user, improve Galileo 360o Learning, contact users, conduct research, and provide anonymous reporting for internal and external clients.
  • Galileo does not share personal information about you with other people or non-affiliated companies except to provide access to Galileo 360o Learning content you have requested, when we have your permission, or under the following circumstances:
  • We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.

  • We believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of Galileo's Terms & Conditions, or as otherwise required by law.

  • We may transfer information about you if Galileo is acquired by or merged with another company.  In this event, Galileo will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

Do you have access to your personal information held by Galileo? Can you amend it and what happens if you do not want Galileo to keep such information?

All users have the right to know whether or not Galileo holds personal information about them.  If Galileo does so, you can access it and then either amend, update or delete it by following the process below:

  • Following a new user registration or when a registered user logs onto Galileo 360o Learning they enter a “home page”. This contains the menu options “change my profile” and “change my preferences”. These options enable you to edit your Galileo 360o Learning account information and preferences. From the “home page” you can also request that the user account is deleted.
  • If you ask Galileo to delete your Galileo account, in most cases your account will be deactivated and then deleted from our user register database in approximately 30 days. This delay is necessary to discourage users from engaging in fraudulent activity. For further information please see the Data Storage section below.

 If for any reason the information held by Galileo is not accurate or up to date and you cannot amend it, you should contact your Galileo account manager if you have one, the Galileo customer support desk in your country, or alternatively email Galileo at customer.education@galileo.co.uk or write to us at the address contained at the end of this document and we will update our records accordingly without delay.

Certain information is required by Galileo to gain access to Galileo 360° Learning. This information is marked with an asterisk on the registration page. If you choose not to provide this information, you will not be able to gain access. The other information requested is used by Galileo to provide you with a more complete and efficient service.

Confidentiality and Security

Galileo regards the security of all information about our users as a priority. We limit access to personal information about Galileo ’s users to employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information in order for Galileo ’s employees to do their jobs and provide Galileo 360o Learning to you the user.

Each user’s Galileo account information is password-protected.

Cookies

Cookies are small pieces of information which web sites send to your computer for record-keeping purposes, and which is stored in a file on your computer. Cookies make web-surfing easier by saving your preferences so that we can use the saved information to facilitate your use of the Galileo 360o Learning service when you return to the site. Cookies do not tell us your individual identity unless you have chosen to provide it to us. We never save passwords or credit card information in cookies. The use of cookies is an industry standard, and as such, you'll find that most major web sites use them.

By showing how and when users use a site, cookies help us see which areas are popular and which are not. Many improvements and updates to the Galileo 360o Website are based on such data as total number of visitors and pages viewed. This information is most easily tracked with cookies. We use the information from cookies to provide services better tailored to our users' needs.

Most cookies expire after a defined period of time, or you can delete your cookie file at any time. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can amend these settings if you wish. However, please note you cannot enter the Galileo 360° Website if you reset your browser to refuse all cookies since you may not be able to sign-in.

Galileo’s practices regarding Cookies

Galileo may set and access cookies on a user’s computer for the following purposes:

  • Keep track of various preferences a user specifies.
  • Estimate and report on Galileo 360o Learning’s total audience size and traffic.
  • Conduct research to improve Galileo 360o Learning content
  • Require you to re-enter your Galileo password after a certain period of time has elapsed to protect you against others accidentally accessing your account contents.

Account Information

  • Galileo keeps your account information active in our user registration databases in order to provide immediate access to your personalization preferences each time you utilize Galileo 360°Learning.

  • Please note that any information that we have stored may remain in back-up storage for some period of time after your deletion request including personal information. This may be the case even though no information about your account remains in our active user databases.

Servers

  • The Galileo computers that send your web pages process and store an enormous amount of information every day.  These computer records are called "log files."

  • Log files are used for analysis, research, auditing, and other purposes, as described above. After this information has been used, it is stored and is inaccessible.  Until the information is stored, your Galileo identity may remain in our active server log files.

Information about audiences and traffic from Galileo’s own log files and user databases may also be used for research purposes in an ongoing effort to improve our products and Galileo 360º Learning.
