easyJet Requirements
Validation Requirements
On July 13, 2026, easyJet is adding additional validation requirements for newly created bookings to ensure valid contact information is present in their system when communicating with travelers through confirmation emails and travel notifications. See PA-4636 and DA-1136 for more information.
Branding Guidelines
easyJet publishes branding guidelines for use of the easyJet brand on any public website or other material. easyJet requires that these guidelines be followed for branding. The current version of the guidelines are available on the easyJet website, and they have requested that the logos from their easyJet .zip file be used for all easyJet branding on POS applications without any scaling, cropping or color changes.
Itinerary / Passenger Type support
ACH Supports the following Itinerary types for easyJet:
- One Way - One way point to point flights
- Round Trip - Round trip direct flights
- Multi City - Non one-way/round trip flights
easyJet returns the following types of flights:
- Direct/Non-Stop - YES
- Connecting Flights - NO
- Multi Leg Segments - NO
easyJet does not have Code Share flights.
- Flights may be booked on easyJet up to 2.5 hours from departure time.
- Flights may be booked 270 days in advance(In Production).
The following passenger types are supported by easyJet:
| Passenger Type | PTC | Maximum Allowed per PNR | Age Restrictions | Combination Rules |
|
Adult |
ADT | 40 | ||
|
Child |
CHD | 39 | 2 - 16 years | At least one adult required |
|
Infant |
INF | 40 | 0 - 23 months | Cannot exceed the number of adults |
When an INF is present in the booking, ACH response will return a warning that Infants under two weeks of age on day of travel will not be accepted for travel.
Maximum Passengers in an itinerary (including infants): 80
Cabins, Fares and Fare Families
easyJet may return up to 2 fares and fare families for each option currently.
Equipment types
EasyJet fly on A319 and A320 aircraft configurations now. EasyJet has introduced a new AirCraft type A321 to their fleet starting 11th June 2018 (NTAC-478). The A321 aircraft will be significantly different, mainly because they will have a much higher passenger capacity with extra leg room having only 3 seats (1A, 1B, 1C) and Standard seats having only 4 seats in 28th row (28B, 28C, 28D, 28E). There will be approx 0.4% of total EasyJet flights that will be upgraded to A321.
Note: easyJet does not return equipment type in the API. This is not a compliance issue as they file this in their schedules, which is required.
Cabins
easyJet is a SINGLE CABIN (Economy) carrier. There may be multiple fares in the cabin.
Fares Returned
- Regular Economy fares (Y), FlexiFares (W) and Inclusive fares(B) may be returned for each flight
- All fares are one way
- Child fares are not supported. Adult fares apply
- Infant fares/fees are returned in price and book only (not in shop)
easyJet uses price buckets. The base fare of a flight depends on the number of passengers (the price(s) applied may cross buckets and the API returns an average). Shop should be done with the correct number of passengers or the fare could be different at price time.
Because of ACH multi-city makes separate shop calls for each OD, shop base fare will be different than price base fare due to easyJet processing of GDS fees. This is working as designed unless easyJet makes a change in the future.
Taxes and Fees
easyJet returns all taxes aggregated together with a TaxCode of XT. easyJet do not return taxes on shop, only price and book.
The following fees may apply on the booking:
- DDD Debit Card Fee (U2 does not charge for the use of debit cards, so this field currently only returns the admin/booking fee). Only charged on Standard "Y" bookings.
- CXL Cancellation fee
- INF Infant fee
- NRA A special fee in ACH to normalize responses. See NRA Fee
- WAJ A fee returned by easyJet for non-refundable amounts.
- This is being discussed with U2 to determine how ACH handles this, possibly as part of NRA
- IED Internet discount fee. This is only returned as a separate fee on the shop response. It gets subtracted from the base fare on price and book responses.
- An administration fee is included in the price displayed for all standard fare (Y) bookings.
The following fees do not apply on the booking:
-
CCB Credit Card Fee are no longer being charged (as of 1 Oct 2019)
See the following for current admin fees listed by currency: https://www.easyjet.com/en/terms-and-conditions/fees-and-charges
Fare Families
easyJet supports and uses the following fare families:
Inclusive Plus Fare
A Inclusive Plus Fare is similar to a full fare economy fare on a full service carrier. A Inclusive Plus Fare on easyJet has the following characteristics:
-
The segments can be modified or canceled within a 3 day window (+/- 1 day around original travel date) without any additional fees and are fully refundable
-
The route can be changed without a fee, but the difference in fare will need to be paid.
-
One free bag is allowed with this booking
-
Large cabin bag is included with the fare and depends on availability at the time of boarding. In order to confirm Large cabin bag user can pay for the service.
-
A food voucher with charge code 'FFP' is applied to all Inclusive Plus fare bookings. This appears as 0.00 as it is added at no extra cost to the traveler. The actual value is £5 which is automatically added to the booking. This is applicable to all passengers, all segments of an itinerary.
-
Inclusive Plus Fares are identified using the fare class W.
Inclusive Plus Fare Booking Rules
-
An itinerary cannot be created with a combination of Regular(Y) or BundleFare(B) and Inclusive Plus (M/W) fares. Such a mixed itinerary will fail pricing and booking.
-
When selecting a Inclusive Plus fare itinerary the free Luggage (BAGS) need to be selected for the booking. If these options are not selected, the itinerary will fail booking. ACH takes care of this by selecting the free bags by default, if not requested.
-
In the ACH Price and Book requests, 'FFP' charge code should be sent for all Inclusive Plus fare bookings to incorporate the food voucher.
-
The BaseFare, Taxes and payment amount displayed in the Booking response may be modified compared to Price response taking into account the fixed Inclusive Plus fare."
-
Inclusive Plus Fare bookings maximum number of allowed passengers are eight
Inclusive Plus Fare Modification Rules
Inclusive Plus Fare booking provides the facility of unlimited free changes within a three day window (+/- 1 day) from the original departure date of Inclusive Plus fare segment. The modifications however need to follow the following rules:
-
To avail a free change user should cancel the existing Inclusive Plus segment and add a new Inclusive Plus segment on same route & within free change time window.
-
Customer can avail free change facility unlimited times. Inclusive Plus fare amendments can be divided into 2 steps:
-
Cancel an existing Inclusive Plus fare segment and add a new Inclusive Plus fare segment that complies with the free change policy with respect to the original canceled segment (within four week change window).
-
Now this Inclusive Plus fare segment can be further replaced with another Inclusive Plus fare segment on the same route as long as the departure date for new Inclusive Plus fare lies within the four-week window period of original Inclusive Plus fare segment.
-
-
Adding any Regular or Bundle fare segment is not allowed. For this purpose user can create a new booking.
-
Adding new Inclusive Plus fare segment that does not comply with free change policy is not allowed. For this purpose user can create a new booking. The U2 website seems to indicate that only date and route changes are allowed. No mention of adding new segments.
-
Free change availed on any segment will be applied to all passengers.
-
Existing segments can be canceled any time - but you must cancel all segments.
-
Ancillary services can be added any time.
-
Passengers can be canceled or modified any time. (feature not supported in ACH)
-
When making changes that change the origin/destination of a segment (Inclusive Plus Route Change):
-
A customer is having a Inclusive Plus booking and wishes to change the route within Inclusive Plus change window, then B2B API will permit this change.
-
For the route change, customer will not charged admin fee, credit card fee or any change fees.
-
No change will be made for cancellation logic.
-
A customer will be charged only the fare difference for the route change if the new route is more expensive.
-
A customer will not get any refund for the route change if the new route is less expensive.
-
All the Inclusive Plus entitlements on the new route will be applicable as per Inclusive Plus fare booking rule.
-
If customer has a seat selected on old route, then seat selection does not carry over and they have to select their seat again.
-
If customer has not selected a seat on old route and he wishes to select a seat on new route then seat selection charges will be applicable as per Inclusive Plus fare rule.
-
If customer has a seat selected up to band 2 (i.e. upfront) on old route and wishes to select ‘Extra Leg Room’ seat on new route, then seat selection charges will be applicable as per Inclusive Plus fare rule.
-
If customer has a seat selected of band 1 (i.e. ‘Extra Leg Room’) on old route and he wish to select ‘Extra Leg Room’seat again on new route, then they will be charged seat price difference if ‘Extra Leg Room’seat on new route is more expensive.
-
A customer is having a Inclusive Plus booking and wishes to change the flight within Inclusive Plus change window on same route, then all the Inclusive Plus entitlements will be applicable as per existing Inclusive Plus fare rule.
-
If user wish to change their date and route in same booking via API at the same time then API will display an error message.
-
InclusiveFare
Inclusive Fare is a packaged fare offering from easyJet available only through the B2B API channel that includes a number of key ancillaries (optional services) along with the fare, in an easy to understand and transparent single price. Inclusive will not be available through the easyJet website, mobile site or call center. It will also not be available on B2C API requests. A InclusiveFare on easyJet has the following characteristics:
- Add segment to a inclusive booking is not allowed, segments can only be replaced but additional fees may be assessed, similar to regular fare.
- One free bag(ACH BG__FR OptionCode) is allowed with this booking, similar to Flexi.
- A standard seat is free of cost with this booking. However, a passenger can chose a higher band seat (upfront or extra legroom) and will be charged a discounted price i.e., selected seat charge minus standard seat charge.
- Admin Or Card fees i.e., CCB or DDD will not be charged on a inclusive fare flight.
- POS fee is included in the fare.
Inclusive Fare Booking Rules
The following rules need to be followed while creating bookings on ACH:
- An itinerary cannot be created with a combination of Regular (Y) and/or Flexible (W) fares with Inclusive(B) fare. Such a mixed itinerary will fail pricing and booking.
- If you opt for BAGS with more than 1 quantity, first baggage is always considered free and rest all baggages will be charged. For ex: if you opt for 2 bags, 1 bag will be returned as free(BG_FR) and the other will be charged(BGPP).
Leisure Inclusive Fares
easyJet (U2) reviews the prices offered to Travelport agencies every month based on bookings, yield, etc. and identifies some agencies (based on their PCC) as Leisure agencies. These agencies are offered a higher price for the Inclusive fares (sometimes as much as ~ EUR 60.00 higher). Incidentally these agencies also pay a higher GDS fee.
Inclusive Fare Modification Rules
Following are the rules/guideline on a Inclusive Fare booking modifications :
- Adding a new segment to a Inclusive fare booking is not allowed.
- A Inclusive flight in a booking can only be replaced with another Inclusive fare flight. In other words, replacing a Inclusive fare flight with a Regular(low)/Flexible fare segment is not allowed. For this purpose user can create a new booking.
- The segment change fee(CHB) will be applicable to all the passengers in the booking for segment changes only. For ex: The additional charges may include flight fare difference+change fee+change card fee. Passenger name change will also incurr change fee(CHB) to that particular passenger who is being modified only.
- Route Change is permitted for an Inclusive fare booking with a change fee applicable, i.e., you can change a BRS-BFS segment reservation to BRS-AMS).
- Ancillary services can be added any time.
- You can add an infant to a booking with additional infant charges applied during book modify.
Add Seats during book modify
You can add seats during book modify if not selected during booking.
Inclusive Premium (BBP)
An inclusive fare includes a markup fee, called the Inclusive Fee which is charged for the included benefits for this fare.
- easyJet API is not consistent in returning this fee. In Shop and Price transactions, this fee is included in the base fare, but in other transactions (Book, Retrieve, Re-price, Modify) this fee is broken out as an itinerary level fee and a reduced base fare is returned.
- The user sees this change first in the book response, where the fee is returned at PriceInfo/ItinTotalFare/Fees/Fee. Due to this, an user might see a discrepancy in the BaseFare returned in Price response as compared to Book/retrieve responses. However, the Total Fare remains same between the transactions.
Standard
A Standard a.k.a. Low Fare fare on easyJet is usually the lowest fare available on segments on Easyjet. The fare comes with the following restrictions: ◦Refunds are only allowed within 24 hours of booking. Modifications or cancellations are allowed, but additional fees may be assessed and the carrier does not refund any amount charged for infants.
- All bags are charged
Fare Family Use
- Fares from different fare families may NOT be mixed in the same itinerary.
- Fare family information is returned in the ACH responses. (//PricedItinerary/AirItineraryPricingInfo/FareInfos/FareInfo/FareReference/text())
The following is a sample of a ACH Fare Info reference with fare family information:
<FareInfos>
<FareInfo>
<FareReference ResBookDesigCode="Y">Economy</FareReference>

Passenger and Contact Details
Passenger/Segment Limits
Following is the business logic for the passenger & segment count validations implemented in B2B:
| Passenger Count | Passenger Segment Count | Error message (short text) |
|
> 40 |
Max passenger count exceeds limit | |
|
< 7 |
> 32 |
Number of flights exceeds limit |
|
> 7 & < 40 |
> 80 | Number of flights exceeds limit |
If for a booking, at the time of booking there were 9 passengers and 8 segments. LimitNoOfFlights = PaxCount X ItineraryCount (9 X 8 = 72 which is less than 80). If the booking is modified and another segment is added, i.e., 9 passengers and 9 segments. LimitNoOfFlights = PaxCount X ItineraryCount (9 X 9 = 81) Since 81 > 80 the error message is displayed as "Number of flights exceeds limit."
- There is a maximum of 40 passengers (ADT+CHD) and up to 40 infants (limited by the number of ADT) per PNR.
- There is a limit of 8 segments and 8 OD for easyJet.
- For flexi fare bookings maximum number of allowed passengers are 8.
Name Prefixes/Supported Titles
ACH easyJet adapter supports the Standard ACH Passenger Name Prefixes.
U2 supports the following Titles for the adult and child passenger types.
| Passenger Type | Title |
| ADT (Adult) | MR, MRS, MS |
| CHD (Child) | CHD |
| Adult with an Infant | Mr+Inf, Mrs+Inf, Ms+Inf, Miss+Inf |
- Title for a passenger is mandatory in a U2 request. If the Title is not supplied in the ACH request for a passenger, ACH applies the title MR (default) to the passenger.
- CHD is the only valid title accepted for a child passenger in a U2 booking. If the requestor sends in a title other than CHD for a child passenger, U2 switches it to CHD and stores in the booking, and the same would be returned in the ACH book and retrieve responses.
Middle Name Support
As of mid April, 2011 easyJet will no longer support middle name in bookings. It may still be sent in by the POS but it will be removed from the request to easyJet and will not be returned in the book or book modify responses.
Phone Support
easyJet requires at least one phone and supports home, business, mobile and fax.
easyJet only supports phone numbers up to 16 characters. ACH will return an error if a number longer than 16 digits is sent in.
<Errors>
<Error Type="893" NodeList="AirBookAPIRequest/OTA_AirBookRQ/TravelerInfo/AirTraveler/Telephone@PhoneNumber">Invalid data type / length / value of attribute or element supplied in the request</Error>
</Errors>
Address Length
easyJet supports up to 2 address lines. The first address line is required and the second address line is optional. Each address line has the same length restriction: 4 - 50 characters.
Note: The test system does not have this limitation, and hence this issue cannot be reproduced on the test environment.
MyEasyJet Account
All bookings made through the API are associated with an account on MyEasyJet (http://www.easyjet.com/EN/Members/). For this purpose the lead passenger’s email is the login. If an existing login is present with that email that is used, if not a new login is automatically created and the password emailed to the user.
FFN Support
easyJet supports a program for frequent flyers called easyJetPlus. Each frequent flyer registered to this program with be given an ID or Code that user can use during booking. A frequent flyer registered to this program is called as EJPlus member.
Through EJPlus program/card, a passenger can avail only seat benefits. Seats are free of cost for an EJPlus member.
CustLoyalty element is used to provide the FFN details. Below is a snippet:
<CustLoyalty MembershipID="12345610" ProgramID="EasyJetPlus" VendorCode="U2"/>
FFN info returned in Book/Retrieve/BookModify responses
When you are using an EjPlusCard (CustLoyalty) for a passenger and do not select any seat on the flights while booking, easyJet doesn't return the ejPlusCard details in their retrieve response although we send in thier request. They seem to return the custloyalty number only when seats are selected on a booking for the custloyalty passenger.
According to U2, through EJPlusCard, only seats can be availed so ejPlusCard processing happens only when you select seats for an ejPlus member. Hence, ACH will not be able to return the CustLoyalty info in Book/Retrieve/BookModify response if seat is not selected to a passenger who is an ejPlus member.

ACH Validation
ACH will validate that the Card Code is valid for the card type submitted. If a payment of 2.CDT is submitted with a card code of AX, ACH will reject the request. This is the only validation that is performed regarding the credit card code/type. Remaining validation is performed by easyJet.
U2 Validation
U2 have their own internal processing for determining card type (and associated fee type). U2 process the card information in this sequence:
- Card number – if present U2 will use the bin range to determine the card type and code. For example, if you sent in an MC card code (Master Card Credit), but the card number falls in the bin range of a DM card code (Master Card Debit), U2 would return the DM card code.
- Card code - absent a card number, U2 will use the card code to detemine the card type. So even if we send them a CB code as a 1.CDT type (credit card), U2 could process it as a 2.CDT (debit card).
- Card type - only when card code can be either type and a card number is not present. So in the case of MC which could be a debit or a credit, U2 relies on our card type to determine the correct type.
Credit/Debit card fees
The credit card fees are returned for restricted (Y fare) bookings only, there will be no credit card fee (DDD or CCB) for Flexi (M fare) bookings.
Visa Electron (EV) Special Processing
Optional Services and Fees
This section documents the optional services and fees supported by the carrier.

Luggage
easyJet supports checked in Bags which includes Small Hold Bags (LUS), Standard Hold Bags (LUG) and Extra Weight (WGT). The default weight for Small Hold Bags (LUS) is 15kg which is the maximum weight allowed in the initial booking flow, when LUS is booked alone without the LUG option. When LUG also exists in the initial booking flow, LUS may be increased in increments of 3kg, up to 27kg by using the existing excess weight option (WGT). In addition, if LUS is booked in the initial booking flow and it is desired to add another LUS and WGT, this is allowed, as long as the total weight of the new LUS and WGT, together, do not exceed 27kg.
- The maximum bag count per customer for the new LUS baggage type is 3 per segment.
- Included in the easyJet changes, the Standard Hold Bag (LUG) default weight has been increased from 20kg to 23kg and may be upgraded to 32kg using the existing WGT option in increments of 3kg.
- Exceeding the maximum weight or the count allowable per passenger will return an error message.

Luggage Fare Logic used by U2
U2 has a business rule that during the booking flow they have a concept of Variable Luggage pricing depending upon the flight details provided as mentioned below:
- FlightNumber is provided in their request - U2 fetches the baggage price based on this flight number.
- FlighttNumber is missing and instead Segment information like Origin, Destinaiton, FareClass etc is sent in the request - U2 fetches the baggage fare on the Segment's price.
- If none of the above is provided, they return a flat baggage price.
But this variable Luggage Pricing concept doesn't exist during the RePricing and Modify flow. They return a flat charge for the baggage.
- This is an easyJet business rule.
- As a result, you might see a discrepancy in the baggage fare returned under the AvailableServices Section to that of the fare returned under OptionalServiceRequests block (when you choose BGPP).
Extra Baggage Weight
Extra baggage weight on easyJet is charged on all fares.

Rules for selecting a seat for an adult with infant
When selecting a seat for an ADT with INF in a particular row, U2 does not allow booking seat for such a passenger if any seat in that row is already booked to an ADT with INF.
- In other words, if any row is already having an ADT passenger with INF, you cannot book another ADT with INF in the same row.
- This also means, you cannot have two INF passangers in the same row.
- While requesting seats for infants make sure you select the seats for infants in different rows.
- Note that there is a limit on the secondary code of only 1-of-a-kind per passenger segment.
Additional Fees
easyJet charges a GDS fee on Economy flights (not included for FlexiFares) that is included in the base fare. This fee is non-refundable. easyJet also charges a credit card fee.
Travelport Branded Fares Support
easyJet participates in the Travelport Branded Fares Product. For further information please see the Branded Fares Functional Specification Certain brand identification processing related to branded fares is carrier specific. ACH cannot match on data that it derives on behalf of the carrier. In other words, there is certain data such as cabin code which the carrier does not return in their API. ACH derives the data based on its knowledge of the carrier functionality. However, since it is the carrier which populates the Branded Fare database, they may not have knowledge of the data which ACH is deriving on their behalf. Thus, ACH cannot match its data to the information filed in the database. This table describes carrier specific Brand Matching data and whether it is supported by easyJet.
- The matching data column describes the data which is used for qualifying a Brand to a fare.
- The ACH Validation column describes what action ACH takes to match that data.
- The easyJet Support column indicates the carrier support for this data matching element.

ACH Services
easyJet is a sessionless carrier and there shall be no timeouts
APIS Information for easyJet
APIS is not required on all easyJet flights. When required, it will be returned in the shop and price responses.
Non Chargable SSRs - Special Service Requests
easyJet API support the following non chargable SSRs. These options will be returned as additional services in the price response. All require a secondary option code to be sent in the book request and are applicable at the passenger level.
easyJet only supports 1 special service request per passenger. If multiple SSRs are submitted in the Book request for a single passenger, ACH will only take one of the SSRs for the Booking request and ignore the rest. So the user should take care in only entering a single SSR to be sure an important special service request is not ignored.
| ACH Option Code | Description | Secondary Code |
| WCH | Wheelchair | WCHR WCHS WCHC |
| DEAF | Deaf Passenger | DEAF |
| BLND | Blind Passenger | BLND |
| MAAS | Meet and Assist | MAAS |
| DPNA | Disabled Passenger | DPNA |
| PETC | Pet in Cabin | PETC |
Following points should be noted that explains U2 functionality on auto-allocation of seats :
- If a booking contains any passenger with any of these SSRs (PETC, WCHC, WCHR or WCHS) then seats are auto allocated based on a specific algorithm to all passengers(except for passengers whom seats are requested) on that booking as per U2.
- Whenever any passenger checks-in on one segment, then also all the other passengers are auto-allocated seats on their respective flights.
Miscellaneous messages in the book response
easyJet API returns some messages in the book response some of which may require agent action; these messages are returned as the ACH Warning message 934: Miscellaneous alert returned by vendor. The //Warning/@ShortText message contains the actual message from easyJet.
| easyJet Message Code | easyJet Message | Meaning | Agent Action |
| 53008 | Selected seat(s) is(are) not a preferred seat for the passenger(s) with SSR. | This warning is displayed to inform the user that the selected seat is not preferable for a passenger with SSR . It might create hindrance at the time of exit. Although easyjet allows to book that seat for a passenger with SSR but while boarding the seat of that passenger may be swapped with another seat which will be more suitable for that passenger. | The User does not need to take any action at that time , At the time of boarding crew members would find a suitable seat for the passenger and make him seat ion that seat. |
| 53006 | Seat(s) may be purchased via easyJet Call Centre. | Booking created without seat selection; user has the option to assign seats using ACH modify or easyJet website | Optional - assign seats. |
