| Problem: |
You received Error 629 when trying to connect to VPN |
| Cause: |
There is a problem
with your ISP or with AT&T |
| Solution: |
While still
connected to ISP, you should:
 | Access DOS by clicking, Start, Programs,
MS-DOS Prompt |
 | At the DOS prompt, type PING VPN.GALILEO.COM |
 | If you are unable to ping, i.e.,
youre getting timeout messages, try a TRACERT. At the DOS prompt, type TRACERT
VPN.GALILEO.COM |
 | If the TRACERT reaches AT&T, email
the results to the Customer Support Centre. Click here
for the Trace Route Procedures form. |
 | If the TRACERT doesnt reach AT&T,
there is a problem with your ISP. You should contact their ISP for assistance. |
 | If you get a valid reply to your ping,
try to connect again. If you still get an Error 629, have you had this problem before and
does it happens at a specific time of day? If yes, advise the Customer Support Centre.

| Windows 98SE Errors |
| Problem: |
You attempt to
load FocalpointNet on Windows 98 and receives the error "HPNETPM.INF NOT FOUND IN THE
SPECIFIED D:WIND98" |
| Cause: |
You are attempting
to load FocalpointNet on Windows 98SE (Second Edition) |
| Solution: |
There are different
installation instructions for Windows 98 (first edition) and Windows 98SE (second
edition). Make sure you are following the instructions for Windows 98SE. |
| Problem: |
Error 645
displays (Windows 98SE user) |
| Cause: |
Dialup networking
cannot complete the connection to the server |
| Solution: |
 | Click Start, Programs, Accessories, Communications, Dial-Up
Networking to display the Dial-Up Networking window. |
 | Click the Connections menu, then Settings to display the
Dial-Up Networking dialog box. |
 | Click the Security tab and make sure that "require
secure VPN connections" is not checked |
 | Try the connection again |

| Windows 98 First Edition Errors |
| Problem: |
Error Message:
Error 745: An Essential File Is Missing
or
Error 691:The computer you have dialed
in to has denied access because the username and/or password is invalid. |
| Cause: |
When you attempt to
connect to a remote computer using Dial-Up Networking . This can occur when a
Dial-Up Networking dynamic-link library (.dll) file is missing or damaged. |
| Solution: |
Remove and
reinstall Dial-Up Networking:
 | Click Start, point to
Settings, and then
click Control Panel. |
 | Double-click Add/Remove
Programs. |
 | Click the Windows Setup tab, click
Communications, and then click Details. |
 | Click the Dial-Up Networking
check box to
clear it, click OK, and then click OK again.

 | Click Start, click
Shut Down, click Restart
Your Computer, and then click Yes. |
 | Once it has finished
re-booting
. |
 | Click Start, point to
Programs, and then
click Windows Explorer. |
 | If it exists, rename the Rasapi32.dll file
located in the Windows\System folder. For information about how to rename a file, click
Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type renaming, and then double-click the
Renaming
files topic. |
 | Rename file with .lld extension

Extracting Rasapi32.dll in Windows 98
Extract a new copy of the Rasapi32.dll file
from your original Windows 98 CD-ROM into the Windows\System folder using the
System File
Checker tool. To start the System File Checker tool, click Start, click
Run, type SFC.EXE
in the Open box, and then click OK. For more information about using the Extract tool,
click Start, point to Programs, click MS-DOS Prompt, type extract, and then press
ENTER.

not installed or not installed properly |
| Solution: |
Check your network
components:
 | Click Start,
Settings, Control Panel and
double-click on the Network icon |
Or
 | Right-click on the
Network Neighborhood icon
on their desktop, then click on Properties to display the Network dialog box. |
 | Verify that the following components are
installed: |
 | Microsoft Client for Microsoft Networks, or
Microsoft Family Logon |
 | Dial-Up Adapter |
 | Dial-Up Adapter #2 (VPN Support) |
 | Microsoft Virtual Private Networking Adapter |
 | NDISWAN-> Microsoft Virtual Private
Networking Adapter |
 | TCP/IP-> Dial-Up Adapter |
 | TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter #2 (VPN
Support) |
 | Add any that are missing then try the
connection again. |
