Focalpoint 3.5 Startup Procedures

When the Focalpoint system is installed, a Focalpoint
item is created in the Start - Programs menu. The
Focalpoint item opens the Focalpoint group from which
Focalpoint can be launched.

 

Logging On

When Focalpoint is launched, the Focalpoint Logon
dialog box displays. This box prompts you for your user ID,
which must be no more than 8 characters in length and
may not contain any spaces or special symbols e.g., $, /,
-.

If you are starting Focalpoint for the first time, the user ID
field will be blank.

If... Then:
you want to start Focalpoint and load Custom Settings  Enter a user name in
the User ID field.
you want to start Focalpoint and load the default settings Leave the User ID field
blank.

User ID

Type in your user name and press e to accept and
continue log on or leave blank and press e to log on with a
default user name.

Note:
If you will be using Focalpoint Relay, you must
log on with a unique user name. Using a default or
common user name will result in unpredictable operation of
Focalpoint Relay.

Seconds Left

The system allows you 20 seconds to start entering your
user name. The amount of remaining time is shown. If you
do not enter anything before the time limit expires,
Focalpoint will start with the personalization settings which
apply to the I.D. in the user name field. If the field happens
to be blank, the default agency settings will load.

Note: If Focalpoint is started automatically from the Start
Up group window along with other applications, the time out
count down mechanism is deactivated. This is provided to
allow you time to complete the Logon box.

Select this button: To...
Yes Continue. A directory will be created
with the same name as the new user
name entered at log on. This
directory is used to manage the files
that control custom settings for
Focalpoint.
No Cancel the next stage of the boot up
process. You will be returned to the
Focalpoint Logon screen where you
may enter another user name or
cancel the log on process.
