Galileo Print Manager
(GPM) Installation Guide
Top
The Focalpoint system uses
Galileo Print Manager (GPM) to add ticket, itinerary, and MIR capability.
This guide provides information on how to install and configure Galileo
Print Manager.
Depending on the setup of
your PC, you may be required to insert your Windows CD-ROM or diskettes
during the Galileo Print Manager installation.
The minimum hardware requirements are:

The minimum software requirements are:

Windows 95b, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 operating system. |

Windows 95b or NT 4.0 LAN Adapter and Microsoft TCP/IP Protocol Stack (see
Windows 95b or NT 4.0 CD-ROM). |

Internet Explorer 5.0 is required for installation on Windows 98 First
Edition, and Windows NT4.0. |

Before installing Galileo Print Manager,
confirm that the Network Adapter card is bound to the TCP/IP Protocol Stack
and set the local IP Address.
Confirm Network Adapter Binding
-
Click Start on the Windows taskbar and select Settings, then
Control Panel.

Double-click on the Network icon.
-
In
the Configuration tab, select the installed network adapter card
(for example, EISA 16/4 Olicom
Token-Ring Adapter) and click Properties.

Click the Bindings tab.
-
Confirm that the checkbox TCP/IP entry for the network adapter card is
checked.
-
Click OK. If prompted to restart, click OK to restart the
computer.
Set Local IP Address
-
Click Start on the Windows taskbar and select Settings, then
Control Panel.
-
Double-click on the Network icon.
-
Click the Configuration tab in the Network dialog.
-
Select the TCP/IP component from the list of network components.
-
Click Properties.
-
Click the IP Address tab in the TCP/IP Properties dialog.
-
Click Specify an IP Address.
-
Type
in the IP Address and Subnet Mask supplied by your Galileo
representative.
-
Click OK. If prompted to restart, click OK to restart the
computer.

Personal computers generally provide two COM
ports and one LPT port. Internal modems may be configured to use COM3,
thereby reserving COM1 and COM 2 for ticket, itinerary, and/or MIR print
devices. Your configuration may require an A/B switch or a serial port
expander, if you need to support three print devices. Based on your
configuration, you may need a COM port for each of the following print
devices:

To install and use
Galileo Print Manager, you need one Client ID and one Global Terminal
Identifier (GTID) for each print device you use. Your Galileo International
representative provides you with the Client ID and the GTIDs. You use these
for the GPM installation and for connecting to the Galileo or Apollo host
systems.

Insert the Galileo Print Manager CD-ROM
into the CD-ROM drive.
-
Click Start on the Windows taskbar,
then click Run.
-
Click Browse to select the CD-ROM
drive, and double-click the drive.
Note: If you need
additional information about locating files using the Browse feature, see
Windows Help.

Double-click Setup.exe.
The Run dialog box reappears.
-
Click OK to continue.
The Galileo Print Manager Setup dialog box appears.

-
Click Next to continue.
The Setup Type dialog box appears.

-
Click the setup
type you want, then click Next to continue.
The Enter Client ID dialog box appears.

-
Type your Client ID, then click Next to
continue.
Note:
The Galileo representative provides the Client ID.
The Galileo Print Manager Selections
dialogue box appears.

After selecting the options, click Next
to continue.
The Start Copying Files dialog box appears.

-
Click Next to start copying files to
the hard drive.
When completed, the Enter Galileo Print Manager Configuration dialog
appears.

After verifying the Client Identifier, in the
Primary and Secondary Server fields, type the IP addresses supplied by the
Configuration sheet or by the Galileo representative.
Click OK to continue.
Note: The addresses in the above
Galileo Print Manager Configuration dialog box are
examples only.

The following options are available. Click either:
 |
Yes, I want to restart my computer now. |
 |
No, I will restart my computer later. |
Note:
In order to use the newest version, you
must restart the workstation.

Click Finish.
After restarting the workstation, Galileo Print Manager auto launches
on startup. Close Print
Manager before going into the configuration screen.

After Galileo Print Manager is installed, the
printing devices need to be configured. Determine which of the following
devices apply to your installation, and follow the instructions for each.

Note: After all print
devices are configured, you must
reboot your system.
Follow these steps to configure the Galileo
Print Manager software for ticketing on a single workstation.
Note:
The ticket printer must be installed on a COM port,
not an LPT port.

On the Windows taskbar, click Start, Programs,
Galileo Print Manager, and then Configurations.

The Exploring - Galileo Print Manager
dialog box appears.

Right-click the Default OPTAT
icon, then click Properties.
The Default OPTAT Properties

Click the Port tab.

Under Available ports, click the appropriate
COM port for the ticket printer connection.
The following example shows COM1.
Click Configure Port.
Note:
To check the printer version, type HMDTxxxxxx (x = printer LNIATA).
The response repeats the LNIATA and displays the printer version.
Example:
Type:
HMDT2DC403, press Enter.
Response: 2DC403

The Communications Port (COM1) Properties
dialog box appears.

Click each drop-down arrow to select the
following settings, then click Advanced.

Bits per second:
9600
- Data
bits:
7
- Parity:
Odd
- Stop
bits:
1
- Flow
Control:
Hardware
Note: The settings
must match those of the device.
The Advanced Port Settings dialog box appears.

It is recommended you set the Receive and
Transmit Buffer sliders to Low, then click OK.
Continue to click OK through the dialog boxes until the Galileo
Print Manager dialog box reappears.
The ticketing setup is complete.
Note: If this is the
only device to be configured,
you must reboot your system.

Upon completion of the ticketing setup, the
Galileo Print Manager Configuration dialog box appears.
If it does not appear, go
to the Windows taskbar, click Start, Programs, Galileo Print Manager,
then Configurations.

Right-click the Default Itinerary icon, then
click Properties.
The Default Itinerary Properties dialog box
appears showing the Device Number defaults to 2.

Click the Printer tab.

If the printer name appears, go to step 15.
If the printer name
does not appear, click Cancel
and go to step 3.

Go to the Windows taskbar; click Start,
Settings, and then Printers.

-
Double-click the Add Printer Icon.
The Add Printer Wizard
dialog box appears.

Note:
The above example is from Windows NT.
-
Click on My Computer (local
printer) or Network printer server, then click Next to continue.
Note:
The network printer will only
display if you have a network card installed on the PC.
The next Add Printer Wizard dialog box
appears.

Click Next to continue.
The next Add Printer Wizard dialog box
appears.

Add the printer Manufacturer and printer type,
then click Next to continue.
 |
The example is of an itinerary printer
provided by Galileo in the US market, and
may be different from the printer you are using. |

If you are configuring a Lexmark 2380 or a
TI 810 printer, select Generic-Generic
Text only. |

Follow the prompts until the Add Printer
Wizard asks you to select a port.
Click the appropriate port from the Available Ports list.
 |
Click LPT1 port, and then go to step 12. |
 |
Click COM port, click Configure Ports. |
The COM Properties dialog box appears.

Click each drop-down arrow to select the
following settings, then click Advanced.
-
Bits per second:
9600

Data bits:
7
-
Parity:
Odd
-
Stop bits:
1

Note:
COM2 is used in the above example.
The settings must match the printer settings.
The Advanced Port Settings dialog appears.

It is recommended you set the Receive and
Transmit Buffer sliders to Low, then click OK.
-
Continue to click OK through the dialog boxes
to return to the Add Printer Wizard Available Ports dialog box.
Click Next to continue.
The Add dialog box appears for you to add the printer name.
-
In the Printer Name: field, type the name of
the printer, then click Next.
The next Add Printer Wizard dialog box appears prompting you to
print a test page.
-
It is recommended a test page be printed.
Click Yes or No, then click
Finish.

Close the Printers window and repeat step 1.
-
Select the printer you want to use for
itinerary printing.
-
Uncheck the Use the Default printer text box.
-
Click Apply.
-
Click OK.
-
If you are prompted to print a test page, select No.
-
Click OK through the dialog boxes to return to the Galileo Print
Manager window.
-
On the Windows taskbar, click Start, and then
click Settings and Printers.
-
Right-click the printer icon, and select
Properties.

-
Click the Paper tab.

-
Click the appropriate paper size for the
itinerary forms that are being used.
Note: Legal size is 14
inches and letter size is 11 inches.

Click Apply, then click OK.
-
Close the Printers window.
If this is the last device to be configured, you
must reboot your system.
Note: It is important to
restart your computer to configure all print devices installed.
Top
There are two types of MIR devices: MIR to
Serial Port and MIR to Disk. Determine which MIR device you are using and
proceed to the configuration instructions for that device.
 |
If you are sending MIRs directly to a back
office, you need to configure the MIR to Serial Port device. |
 |
If you are saving MIRs to a hard drive, you
need to configure the MIR to Disk device. |

On the Windows taskbar, click Start, and then
click Programs, Galileo Print Manager, and Configurations.

-
Click File, New, then Device.

The Galileo Print Manager Installation
Wizard-Device Selection dialog box appears.

-
In the Device Number field, type 3.
Note: The number three
assumes that you have previously installed a Ticket Printer (1) and
Itinerary Printer (2).
-
In the Device Name field, type MIR LINK.
Note: This field is not
case-sensitive.
-
Click the down-arrow at the right of the
Printer Type field, and then select MIR to Serial Port.

-
Click Next to continue.
The Galileo Print Manager Installation

Complete the dialog box, then click Next
to continue.

From the Available ports list, select the
appropriate
COM port.
Note: If on a single
workstation, you may require an
A/B switch if two devices, such as itinerary and MIR
are sharing a COM port. Or,
you may need a serial
port expander if you have an external modem. |

If you are targeting the Apollo host, check
the
Append ETX to Data Stream text box.
Note: It is important
to establish with the back office
system provider whether they use ETX (end of text)
or not, before you proceed. |
 |
Click Configure Port. |
The COM Properties dialog box appears.

Click each drop-down arrow to select the
following settings, then click Advanced.

Note:
These settings need to match the Back Office settings.

return to the MIR to Serial Port dialog box.

Click Next, then Next again to
continue.
The next dialog box appears prompting you to print a test page.

It is recommended a test page be printed.
Click Yes or No,
then click Finish.
The MIR Link icon appears on the Galileo Print Manager Configuration
window.

If you are continuing from the previous section,
the Galileo Print Manager Configuration window already appears.
If not, from the Windows taskbar, click
Start, Programs, Galileo Print Manager, then Configurations to
view the Galileo Print Manager window.

Click File, New, then Device.

Complete the dialog box.

Type the number
3 in the
Device Number field.

Click the Printer Type drop-down
arrow and click
MIR to Disk.

Click Next to continue.
If you receive the following Warning dialog
box:

Click Yes.
The Galileo Print Manager Installation

Click Next.
The next dialog box appears prompting you to print a test page.

It is recommended a test page be printed.
Click Yes or No,
then click Finish.
The MIR Link icon appears on the Galileo
Print Manager Configuration window.

Close the Galileo Print Manager
Configuration window, then restart your computer.
All print devices have been configured.

The Galileo Print Manager is now installed
and configured. You are ready
to begin using the Print Manager with Focalpoint.
-
Open Focalpoint and sign on to begin your
Focalpoint session.
-
Minimize the Focalpoint window.
-
If Galileo Print Manager is
not currently open, click Start on the Windows taskbar, and
then select Programs, Galileo Print Manager, then Print
Manager.

The Galileo Print Manager window displays.

Note:
The Galileo Print Manager application
must remain open to run tickets.
You may minimize the window.

On the Windows taskbar, click on the minimized
Focalpoint window to start your session.
