We live in a world where
information moves at the speed of light and is accessible by more people
than ever before. This climate puts more pressure on you to satisfy a new
breed of traveler. This is the traveler who calls you after researching
travel on the Internet and now wants you to book the flight at the lowest
price with no restrictions.
Sound familiar? We are excited to tell you that you will be able to satisfy
this new breed of consumer better than ever before with the upcoming release
of Galileo's next generation GlobalFares system.
Talking About GlobalFares, the Next Generation

What's New For Me?
Overall, you will benefit from an improved capability for
shopping complex itineraries, an enhanced ability when shopping for the best
fares and the virtual elimination of debit memos. Although the system will
be largely transparent to you, behind the scenes it will seamlessly provide
you with additional support for ticket designators, endorsement messages,
improved processing of surcharges and enhanced rules text information.
Many
of these functions that previously entailed manual entries now will be
automated. Also, the increased support in shopping functions will double the
amount of
flight segments that you can handle today!
.....You will be able
to tell your customers about cost savings by alerting them to lower-priced
fares to alternate cities proximate to the origin and destination or on a
different date. Future updates to the system will allow you to use the
flexibility of Calendar Shop to book international travel as well as
domestic flights.
.....One of the greatest upcoming features in
the future GlobalFares release will allow you to find advertised fares by
searching on the price or the name of the advertisement. So if your Internet
customer calls you and says he saw an advertisement for 'Hot Hawaii Deals'
in which flights were only $599, you will be able to easily search,
determine the carrier and book the flight. |

So What's Behind
the Scenes?
The new GlobalFares system is a result of
Galileo's strategic use of the most innovative artificial intelligence and
server-based technology. The new GlobalFares system will provide airlines
with a more seamless method of distributing airfare information to Galileo.
Airlines participating in the ApolloĆ CRS and filing fares with the Airline
Tariff Publishing Company (ATPCO) will achieve a quicker time to market
because fares and fare rules now will be automatically distributed to you.
Your benefit will be a new level of speed, efficiency and accuracy in
quoting fares and fare rules to your customers who see new fare information
all the time on the Internet or elsewhere.
.....Implementing the next-generation
GlobalFares system is another example of our commitment to providing you
with excellent distribution services, more automated processes and more
seamless fare filings. When completed, the system will be the most
competitive fares product in the travel industry. Babetta Gray, EVP
Subscriber Sales and Service said, "We have an ongoing strong commitment to
help our 40,000 travel agencies around the world maintain their
competitiveness. With faster fare updates and the enhanced low fare shopping
capabilities, our travel agents will be able to provide an even higher level
of customer service to travelers."
.....The initial components have been developed
and tested, and implementation will be phased in for North American
itineraries this summer. International itineraries will be phased in
beginning in the fourth quarter of this year. |
