Printer Elimination Plugs No Longer Needed
To eliminate the printing of passenger receipt it can be accomplished thru the Apollo software, see instructions below.
Effective January 18, 2007, Galileo introduced functionality that allows an agency to suppress printing of the e-ticket
Passenger Receipt. The agency secondary authorizer can set the new ETKT PASS RECPT field on your ADP Options table to suppress the printing of passenger receipts for e-tickets. Once this change is made, passenger receipts will no longer print, however agents have the ability to override the ADP settings with new modifiers for e-tickets.
For more information, see the following HELP items in Apollo.
With this enhancement, agencies may choose to disconnect their ticket printer and suppress all coupon printing. Prior to this enhancement, a Virtual Printer Plug was needed if an agency wanted to disconnect their ticket printer.
To eliminate the printing of invoices, the printer elimination plug is no longer needed. This change can be accomplished in Printers & Faxes. See the instructions below. Note: these changes only apply to serial printers and must be performed on the PC the serial printer is physically connected to. If you’re currently using a parallel printer or IP based LaserJet printer, you’ll follow the steps under “Creating a Paperless Serial printer”.
Modifying an existing Serial Printer:
-
In Windows go to Start
-
Select “Printers and Faxes”
-
Highlight the printer that you want to stop printing and Right Click
-
Select “Properties”
-
Select “Port” (The port of the printer you are going to stop should already be highlighted)
-
Select “Configure Port”
-
Use the drop down arrow for Flow Control and select “XON/XOFF” instead of Hardware.
-
Select “OK”
Creating a Paperless Serial Printer:

Upon completion, follow the following steps to change the printer to be a paperless device.

For Windows XP and Windows Vista machines you do not need to reboot the computer, but for Windows 98 machines, a reboot is required.
Your printer will now dump the data out of the queue and no printer elimination plug will be required.
To revert back to printing physical itineraries, reverse the process you chose to create the paperless itinerary printer (either changing the flow control or choosing the physical printer in Print Manager). This process will not work for the old 486 DOS based print servers, but they should be very rare and will continue to require the use of the 25 pin Virtual Printer Connector.
