FocalpointNet - Nortel Software Configuration

Due to a system upgrade to improve capacity and performance, an important update is required for FocalpointNet. When you start the Nortel Contivity VPN client (a.k.a. "FocalpointNet" software, look at the "Destination". If that destination is anything other than one of the following, you MUST make a change IMMEDIATELY !!!.

  • fpnetipsec.galileo.com
  • fpnetnatt.galileo.com
  • fpnetpptp.galileo.com
  • gidsvpn.galileo.com

Example of destination names which will quit working on October 13, 2009, include, but are not limited to the following:

  • fpnet.galileo.com
  • fpvpn.galileo.com
  • vpn.galileo.com
  • gids.galileo.com
  • gids1.galileo.com
  • IP addresses beginning with 12.17.x.x

Failure to make this change by November 13, 2009 will mean loss of access to Apollo or Galileo. If you encounter any difficulty in making the change, please contact your local Travelport Help Desk

  • Windows 98/98SE customers - If you find you cannot connect using the new destination name, make sure you have entered the name lower case. You may also choose an alternate name. Example, if you are attempting to use fpnetipsec.galileo.com and that connection fails, try using fpnetnatt.galileo.com instead, and vice versa.
  • Windows 98/98SE customers-  If you are asked to upgrade the version of Nortel software you are using, you may find that Windows asks you for the installation CD or diskettes because the upgrade requires a file Windows assumes is missing. Try "browsing" to the c:\windows\system32 folder to see if the file Windows needs is already present in that folder.
  • There may be changes required if you have a firewall (or certain anti-virus packages) to allow access. If your connection simply times out or you see the following error, there is a good chance your personal firewall software or corporate firewall settings need to be changed.

Personal Firewalls

Personal firewalls such as Windows Firewall in Windows XP/Vista and those included with internet security suites from Norton Symantec, McAfee, Trend Micro, Zone Alarm, etc must be configured to permit, trust, allow the connection to and from the following. Note, that some of these firewalls will allow you to enter the names shown below and others will only allow you to enter IP addresses. For detailed assistance with your particular firewall software, please contact technical support for the company from which you purchased the software.

DNS Names to "trust"

  • fpnetipsec.galileo.com
  • fpnetnatt.galileo.com

IP addresses to "trust"

  • 198.151.32.105
  • 198.151.32.110

Travelport suggests you not try to limit the trust to certain ports and protocols, but simply trust all traffic (ports, protocols) between your computer and the above names or addresses.
